I Love it I Love it I Love it I Love it I Love it I Love it

Could you elaborate on what those tweaks are? Especially if they apply to other phones.

Erasat already covered what I do normally above. I also still use the default weather widget on my S6 but I don't like how having it set to location or gps as it drains my battery fast on all my phones, so I just set it to my city (or really it defaults to my neighborhood within my city) and now drains my battery much less.

I also only use auto brightness on all my phones when outside only as that also drains battery fast. Indoors, I set it to manual, normally 30 to 35 percent depending on what my fat finger does...on some phones, this is not bright enough so I adjust it to be just bright enough to use comfortably. On my S6, this is 30 percent, same with my m8. In my zenfone 2, this is set at 70 percent as screen brightness is quite poor.

My apologies if I misunderstood your point. But darker themes/screens help save battery on something like a Galaxy, a phone that uses an OLED screen. Those screens only produce light where it's required. So they draw less power when displaying a mainly-black screen.

But an LCD, such as used on the G3/G4, is different, from what I've read. LCD displays backlight the entire screen constantly, then use the LCD to block the light to make dark areas. But, as I understand it, a white display and a black display really don't change the power draw on an LCD. The backlight is on in either case, it's just a difference in what the LCD itself is doing. A single white pixel, or a whole screen of white, requires the same backlight behavior and power.

I wouldn't count on a power reduction from going to a darker theme on an LCD-screen phone.

You're correct on this one. It's only OLED/AMOLED that darker backgrounds conserve battery.

I can say this... A darker background is easier to see and I don't have to have it as bright. It may be a placebo effect but my battery life is better because of it.

Definitely a possibility. I can't seem to use dark themes at all anymore. I guess I've just gotten used to the brighter defaults used by most OSes these days.

This phone just keeps getting better all the time. With LG's promotion to buy 2 additional leather backs for the price of 1 I'm really glad I jumped on the LG bandwagon this time around.

Holding this phone sans case is a real pleasure compared to my previous m8. While not as clear as my m8 sounded, it is noticeable louder and I am not missing the front facing speakers nearly as much as I thought I would.

I did buy that $8.00 glass screen protector off Amazon folks recommended and am very pleased with just how well it fits below the edge rim and the extra bit of weight it adds because it really improves the overall feel of the phone to me. I think I will not put this in a enclosed case but try to find one of the excellent PDair belt holsters to carry it in at work. They are pricey but well worth the money for them. I have one from my Lumina 1520 that I am using but it is really made for it and is too big.

We on AT&T just got a small update yesterday which has seemed to fix some of the small issues that folks we having and that is awesome that LG is on top of things.

I'll be giving the camera a bit of a workout today to start learning how to take good pictures..(hopefully)

I believe even more that this is the absolute best Android phone I have ever had the pleasure of owning and I sincerely hope that for those who are having problems with their new phone that they can get it corrected so that they can really start to enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine.

So you are saying I should blow off my best buy order and pick up the black leather g4 that's at the att store this afternoon?
I swear that is what I am reading into this thread.

You are correct! This is also why I've been enjoying using LCD screens since my G3 after using dark themes all the time with my previous Sammy devices. Its nice to be able to use light themes without worrying about it using up much battery life!

Heh, it becomes a matter of perspective, I suppose :)

I liked having the option on my S3 to use a darker theme to help reduce power draw. With an LCD, you no longer have that choice. But, as you said, that DOES free you to use whatever type of theme makes you happy.

No I'm not telling you what to do... I merely told you what I did and why I chose. Best Buy lost my business and I will never order a phone from them again. What I was promised by the salesperson at the store and on the phone with Best Buy mobile and the wasn't what is their own policy and as such I asked for a refund.

You can choose to wait for however long it takes or go to the AT&T store and get it sooner.

So my comment was not directed at you,i actually never saw your issue. I had enough of bb not knowing when the g4 was coming in,so I was using the thread to justify it.
And I did. Disappointed the LG backup setting didn't work for the migration from my g3.....but it's done and it's fantastic.

6 days of use and this phone still impresses me.

The black leather is breaking in and is feeling better. The edges are feeling a little bit tackler so I feel more comfortable holding it. I have a very nice glass screen protector on it so my phobia of dropping it has abated some... Lol

Battery life is very good averaging 5.5-6.5 hours of screen time (depending on usage of course) Stand by time is phenomenal. I have a orange and red leather back on order along with a PDair black and red holster too.. So it looks to be coming all together..

I have a major issue with this phone though, and there is nothing that LG AT&T or anyone else can do about it... People keep asking me if this is the new Samsung Edge... Seriously... I have had 5 or 6 people who I don't know and never met come up and ask to see this phone... and that has never happened to me before...

Oh well... I shouldn't complain about this, after all I get to see their first reactions when I show them there is other phones besides Samsung's 😄😄😄

That's better than wearing your Moto360 and getting asked three to five times a DAY "Ooh, you got the Apple watch!?"

I get that too, but to be fair I have an iPhone 6 that I use sometimes. And I've used iOS longer than Android so people I already know assume I'm still using iOS.
