I love my battery!

I DON'T love my battery. It seems to be getting worse.

-Weather Widget that updates every 6 hours
-38 minutes screen on time (auto brightness)
-1hr 19min phone usage
-bluetooth on and connected all day (according to usage only 7%)
-minimal text and email (5-10 text and 5-10 email)
-good signal (3+ bars) all day

-down to 37% after 9 hours...this is worse than my Nexus

And it really doesn't seem to matter what I do. I've run all day with bluetooth off (heard this was a big drain)...I've had days with 2 hours of screen time and 2 hours of phone usage...I've had days where I've hardly even looked at my phone. By 4pm everyday my battery is down to <40%.

Had a battery on order (warranty replacement) but no one at AT&T can seem to find one. Finally got the store to pull one out of a new phone. Trying to trouble shoot if it is a bad battery or if its a bad phone. The guy at the store was nice enough to give me this battery to allow me to "test" before I exchange my phone...which I only have till like next Monday or so to do.

Do y'all think I'm asking too much of this phone? Or do I have a valid concern?

I know it's not a solution to actually fixing the problem, but to get around it, you could get the car dock :\ Well, if you're traveling in the car a lot. I do quite a bit, so popping it in every time I get in the car is probably helping my battery life a lot.

edit: You know, what I'm finding is holy crap do voice calls eat up the battery to hell or what...I had a 15-minute conversation and my battery plummeted. Checking the battery statistics, it said display was the highest, taking up a great percentage such as 42% (can't recall now). But that voice call I just had for 15 minutes raised the voice calls to the exact same percentage as the display, 42%! I only had one other call today and that one was about 6 or 7 minutes. I realize voice calls on any phone use a lot of the battery, but I honestly don't think my blackberry had them using THIS much, or THIS fast.

Perhaps it's because I'm on 3G on these calls? (I frequently set my BB to 2G only) Can we turn 3G off on our atrix?

I am getting much better battery life than I did on iphone 4 when making phone calls. The iphone 4 would drain fast on calls. The Atrix seems to be more efficient at handling calls.

Does anyone use google talk? I've read that this can eat up battery (but it doesn't show up in Where's My Droid Power or WatchDog).

I just pulled up Where's my Droid Power and and my top users are
News-11.04% (I don't even have this app set up to do anything)
Home-7.29%
Motorola Services-4.68%
-then everything else is 3% or less

I put a full charge on that "test" battery last night and I'm down to 70% in 3.5 hours...this is about on par with what I've been getting the past couple of weeks (I would expect to be to 30%-40% by 5 pm).

Calendar Pad Pro went rouge last night while I was asleep...it topped 55% CPU usage a couple of times...but it doesn't show up as using battery in wheres my power. I've now uninstalled this app and will see what happens the rest of today.

I'm gonna give another full charge overnight and if I'm back here with these numbers tomorrow I guess I'm gonna get a replacement phone.

I ask again, am I just expecting too much?

all of you should try juice defender, there is a free version. Really helps my mytouch4g 1400mah battery and the atrix has a 1950 mah battery.

7hr 49 min since unplugged and 70% battery left...I'll give that an A+++

not sure which of these "fixed" my problem or if it's a combo of all

-- uninstalled calendar pad pro (changed to touch calendar...awesome btw)
-- unrooted and rerooted (thought maybe something got "hung up" in the initial root)
-- could just be that I've gotten a full 100 to 0 / 0 to 100 cycle on the new battery and a bad battery was my problem all along

either way, I found a new calendar I like and a battery that's on par with what I was expecting---hip hip hooray

(now if that little leprechaun I saw last night would just bring me that pot of gold he promised me yesterday I might have a decent weekend)

OK, newbs seem to be welcome here, so I'm going to ask some questions that it seems to me I -should- have been able to find by doing some investigation, because I -have- done said investigation, and have found almost nothing useful. Here goes:

I have a MT4G, brand new. This morning it had full charge(had it on charge all night). Went to work. Put it on wifi because I have dead zones at work. After less than 2 hours on wifi (3 hours total, into the day), I see the battery is 1/2. I shut wifi off. The battery is less than 10% by 9 hours into the day. WTF. I go to the TMobile dealer, ask him if this is normal, he says yes, Wifi does that. I ask what I can do. He recommends a larger battery. Based on what I'm seeing you guys say, this is not normal at all. I changed the settings for less power use, and did little browsing and texting throughout the day, played angry birds for about an hour.

What I need is some basic direction about where to go to find the facts on this, because I seem to be missing something. The tmobile store says it has 10 hours talk time, 18 days standby time.

Wow man, that's awesome! Congratulations!! :D
I'm betting it was the app somehow...I wonder if any of my apps are killing my battery as well. Hmm..

Have you installed WatchDog? It does a good job of letting you know if something has gone rouge and chewing up your memory.

I've had my unlocked Bell Atrix for 3 days now, and I love my battery too.
I can get through a day easy with plenty of use.
My previous Desire HD wouldn't last 8 hours with light use before it was completely dead.

When you select the battery widget and tap on the battery it shows you a basic breakdown of what's using up the battery: Phone idle, Display, Cell standby and Wifi. At night when my atrix is idle I see wifi at 7% and phone idle at ~40%. During the day Display takes up ~40-50% and wifi is ~15% at the most. This is assuming you turn off wifi when there's no signal. Wifi is actually better if you have a constant connection, from Rickroller's link:
Change WiFi sleep policy. This may sound counter-intuitive, but leaving WiFi on when the EVO isn't being used and the screen is off is actually better than letting it sleep. When WiFi sleeps, 3G/4G wakes up to sync, get email, and retrieve other data. 3G will eat up more battery than WiFi, so go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi Settings. Press the Menu button and tap Advanced, then Wi-Fi sleep policy. Choose "Never" from the pop-up menu.

Since switching to "Maximum Battery Saver" mode, my battery life has been superb. When I run with my phone (i.e., streaming Pandora to Bluetooth headset), I switch back to "Nighttime Saver" mode. No complaints here - battery performance is on par with my iPhone.

Hi guys. my battery life seems to be improving. it's been 15 hours since unplugged: phone idle 12h. 57m. display use 2h. 3m. voice calls 15m. i played Nova and Samurai games for about 15-20 minutes, browsed web, and made couple of phone calls. and the battery now is at 50% I'd say i am pretty happy with such performance. i also have two spare batteries with me all the time. but so far never used them

I know mine did, but it also depends on what you use your phone for. If you can, describe your daily use of it.

My battery settings are just auto brightness and nighttime saver. Every other setting is pretty much factory stock.

Sure, I still end up charging my phone every 1 to 1.5 days, but that's because I don't like leaving until it gets to 0 before charging.
