I love my pixel 4xl

I have seen a lot of negative press, after 1 day I absolutely love my new phone. Coming from the pixel 3xl I love this phone better in every way including not missing the finger print scanner like I thought I would. My battery has been great, I'm at 54 percent after being on it a lot. Just gonna put this out there! This phone is the bomb so far!
In the end that's all that matters. Too often people get wrapped up in what others think. I do appreciate reviews but if I treated them as Gospel, I wouldn't buy anything from coffee makers to cars.

Very pleased with my 4XL. Only hitch so far is that a few of my apps don't work properly with Android 10, and need updating by the developers.

I started using it late morning and was on it all day till about 9 and ended with about 39 percent. It started at 91 percent. Not to bad👍

I was skeptical about getting my Pixel 4 XL but I'm actually loving it too. I never used the FPS so it's not a difference to me that it's gone. I'm a little bummed about the photo storage but it's not something that I wouldn't buy a phone over. I love how you can customize the style of your Pixel 4 now :) I'd say overall, after having for 1 day, I'm satisfied.

On wifi mostly? Did you check what was your screen on time was? 90Hz enabled?

Glad to hear that you're happy with your purchase :)

Look what just arrived. Moment of Truth I'll report back.

I just finished setting mine up and so far so good. Obviously i havent messed with it enough to give a lot of long term feedback, but one negative that I am already seeing is the screen brightness. At max brightness, my Pixel 2XL is getting brighter than max brightness on the 4 XL. Now, I dont run my 2XL at max brightness, almost ever, so to me that just means that my brightness slider is up higher (almost max) than it is on my 2XL, but its somewhat disappointing its not even as bright as a 2 year old phone.

Lots of other positives tho! The face unlock is just as fast as all of the ads / reviewers made it out to be, for example.

EDIT: I also keep trying to swipe on the back of the phone to bring the notification slider down :'( Im really gonna miss that gesture.

Adaptive brightness on?

Adaptive brightness on?

Yes, it was "On" on both phones when I tested, but I manually moved both sliders to max. I tried again with both to "Off" and moving the slider to max after reading your comment and no change.

Granted, the difference in brightness is not absurd. My 2XL is only brighter by a very little bit. But it is brighter.

Is 75-80% brightness on Pixel 4 bright enough for outdoor?

just went outside and checked it for you. In direct sunlight, 75 to 80% brightness isn't going to cut it. 100% is readable but not as good as a Galaxy S10, for example.

EDIT: Guess I should add im using dark mode. IDK right now whether or not turning dark mode off would make a difference.

I was on data the whole time because my wifi is too slow to download all the apps to my phone and I have unlimited data through Verizon. I went into developer options and changed the setting to use 90 htz all the time. I loved finding that option. I want it running fast all the time. I took it to work this morning at 6 with 89 battery life, it's 12:30 and I've been streaming music all morning through my Bluetooth speaker. I'm at 76 percent right now. I teach middle school pe so I play music all day during class.

Thanks so much for doing this..

that's awesome! sounds like the battery isn't too bad. i really enjoy the size of the pixel 3, but before that I have always used an XL. looks like if i purchase the pixel 4, i will have to go back to an XL again.

Can't you just swipe down on the home screen and bring down notifications that way? I heard the with new Pixel 4 launcher you can swipe down from anywhere on the screen (similarly of swiping up from anywhere to bring up the app tray.

Yep, sure can do that. that doesn't change the fact that my muscle memory tells my index finger to swipe down from the back :) I'm sure I'll get used to it, just missing it currently.

I got my Pixel 4 XL today. I'm still messing around with it, but so far it looks like the battery is going to be very very good. I say this because it's draining very slow, much slower than I'm accustomed to on android phone.

That's good news
