I wasn't able to get a new upgrade for free ;p. But I did get to buy out of my current contract for $115. The contract was set to expire end of June 2013.
I'm in a similar situation. I just called Account Services about an early upgrade buyout and they said I had to be within 1 year of my next upgrade to qualify. For me, that would be July 1st, and the Sprint rep told me I could call 2 weeks early (June 18th) and they would push my upgrade up so I could upgrade to the HTC EVO LTE (he didn't tell me what the upgrade cost would be).I just found out from Sprint that the "Early Upgrade Buyout program" is only offered in certain markets right now... I'm in NJ and the closest market to me that it is available in is Ohio! LOL!
I'm eligible for upgrade on June 1st and the earliest they will allow me to upgrade is May 18th, so depending on when the phone will be released, I may be calling on the 18th to order mine.
Hate to say it, but i think this all might be b.s. Not only does it sound way too good to be true, but online chat cannot do this. Why? Because it involves a change to your plan (extending your contract) which can't be done in a chat session.
Changes like this need to be done over the phone or in person.

I also just got off of the line. I was trying to push up my date from June 1 to May 18. I was told that they will only push up the date IF you have had your current phone for at least one year. I am using my last available annual upgrade under the old Premiere Gold program so have not had the phone one year. The customer service person on the line (who said she was in retentions) said that the system would not accept the change if she tried to do it.
Guess I will have to act my age and just wait until June 1. :-!
You never call in and complain so I'll give you an early upgrade, that's kind of a curious thing to say to a customer. I've been with sprint ten years and am mostly satisfied but that kind of comment is exactly the type of thing that can turn me away rather quickly. Most companies need feedback (complaints) to improve. What if you had legitimate complaints? Would you have been penalized for that?
