Look.... The Gnexus is a great phone I love the nexus feel... But I'm close to fed up.... I only use the nexus as a 2nd line for biz... I hardly touch it and after maybe 3hrs of sitting there the battery is drained over half way... Then... There is no signal half of the time.... I go rid of my razr for it.. Besides pure android and the flexibility of it... I'm beginning to regret it..... Anyone feel my pain?

Dont blame the nexus brand if yours loses 50% in 3 hrs and drops signal a lot... you clearly either have a bad device or in a really bad reception area...
Most people can easily get through a day on minimal use, so there is something wrong with your phone.

just my opinion

Brand? I want the Damn thing to work Nexus or not if it's broke its broke... I said nothing bad about the brand of nexus.... However that's the name of the device that's having an issue right... Lol

I've returned one already was going to send the one I have again but don't feel like going through the headache .. And I'm in Phx az a rather large city one of Vzw 1st to launch with LTE.. No problems with my GS3 nor my Razr when I had it.... It's the phone....

To add I'm pretty knowledge about phones and Verizon seeing that I've worked for them in the past....
I've been reading multiple post about signal issues with the GNEX.... This is sad... I really like it but efficiency on that line is #1 priority.. That's my Business #..

I'm with you Polo, this phone is a POS. I can't understand how Samsung would release such a disaster of a device. As you said, the battery life is a joke and I have an extended battery. The radios are a disaster. I leave 4G off to save battery and use the 3G radio 99% of the time. That's great for saving your battery, but miserable for having any sort of reliable data connection. Hand off between towers literally takes 5-10 min to re-establish a data connection. On a 3 hour drive to Atlanta, I got to listen to Pandora for maybe 10 minutes. Oh AND the external speaker is terrible.

Hopefully the new Motorola phones will be the 'pure Google' devices.

Unfortunately there is no way to know if the signal issues really are common...

Clearly many have had issues like you and also voice drops... my own signal drops self resolved not long after getting phone... maybe it was an app issue

That being said... a huge number of complaints were based on people not realizing the way this phone displays signal iin dBm (rsrp instead of Rssi) was much more accurate so it wammmparison Verizon knew this they even made the bars display differently after the new radios w 4.0.4.

Now we are seeing newer radios that are being praised... so
Maybe the people who's issues persisted weren't just experiencing a defect with hardware

So

The new radios help tremendously with the handoffs.

All newer phones in general or certain devices? I'm due for an upgrade and the probability of me spiking this phone on the ground grows each day.

What do you mean? There are new radios that came with the leaked Jelly Bean OTA. They improved handoffs between 3G/4G/WiFi tremendously.

My mistake, I thought you were talking about radio hardware. Well, here's to hoping the OTA update comes sooner rather than later.

Either u stay in a horrible area or you have a defective device. I wouldn't say my battery is great but its nowhere near that bad. I can at least go 12 hrs.

I have to agree. I usually average around 12 hours..less with very heavy use of course and more with light to minimal use. I'll post my last charge statistics below just for an example but this was definitely with light to moderate use. Screen brightness set to about 75% and 4G lte enabled..no wifi and some Bluetooth here and there..no GPS.

Edit: I also use the 2100mah battery.

3g to 4g handoffs have been fixed since the 4.0.4 ota. The JellyBean radios have just improved even more on that. Have you not updated your device since launch? I know that sounds condescending but its also a semi-serious question. If you are still having handoff issues at this point id suggest telling verizon you want a replacement, and if possible to make sure its a korean model, not a chinese one.

I just read up on the new motorola phones actually. The RAZR M, RAZR HD annd RAZR HD MAXX. They wont be 'nexus' devices per say but it doesnt look like theres going to be any motoblur on them either. Honestly, this new razr maxx, with its 4.7inch 720p screen, 3000 mah battery, soft navigation buttons, and stellar motorola radios sounds like its going to be the phone to buy this holiday season, that is if the next nexi phones arent released before then ;)

I really wanted the Nexus to work for me but no luck here either. 1st phone the charging port was going out and getting flakey so I had them send me another, it was running IMM76Q and the 4G signal completely dropped every 3 to 4 mins. Had them send me another, 2nd replacement, same thing. Had them send me another, 3rd replacement, same thing. I finally got a supervisor to override it and should be getting a replacement S3 today. And since launch I have had the mute mic problem with the phone, after the 4.0.4 update it was better but still there. Also loaded a JB ROM on my first phone and same thing with the mute. Never had much issue with the battery, it drains pretty fast like everything other 4G phone just have to manage it.

I heard that Motorola wasn't supposed to be one of the manufacturers of the next Nexus...not yet anyways. But, imagine a device with great build quality, great radios, great battery life and throw in 2 GB of RAM and an S4 pro with a 5 inch screen.

I'm using a Korean made, 6/2012, on the IMM76K build. I've checked for updates but haven't seen any.

I'm pretty excited about the new Moto phones and you've taken the words out of my mouth. While they might not be Nexus devices, it'll be nice to see these phones with great hardware and Google behind the scenes.

Thanks for the help.

We have the leaked OTA and a separate zip with the radios here in this forum, if you want them :).

I've had this phone since launch and initially the 3G/4G handoff was terrible and took forever, but now it seems almost instantaneous, and I'm on the 4.0.4 radios (running the leaked ota JB ROM). I have never experienced signal drop but I have read about people who have, and your battery issue has to be either a bad service area or rogue app. Or it could be a defective device,as I have also heard of people sending back phones several times, tho I suspect some of them were just trying to get a different phone, especially since the release of the S3. I'm usually able to get through the day with a moderate amount of use on the standard battery and I have a spare that I use when I'm going to be out and about all day using it. I do wish it had a better camera, but I don't think its anywhere as bad as some make it seem. And JB IMO is a game changer...like what ICS should've been but its like they just ran out of time.

I absolutely love this phone and as of now I have no desire to own anything but a nexus device. I hope VZW gets the next one tho I have my doubts.

Wow this post is interesting to read I have had the exact same issue as you three day replacements sent and they told me I could have a refurb razor but they weren't giving refurb s3' s to anyone. I'm going to have to call back I think. I even offered to buy a s3 and sell the nexus on my own but they refused an early upgrade
