Hi, I'm terribly sorry if I'm posting this on the wrong forum page, but I really need some help. Here's the deal: I have an HTC One S (S3). I unlocked the bootloader. I installed Clockworkmod. I tried opening the recovery and it didn't work. There was just a screen saying Entering recovery on the top and a bunch of legal stuff on the bottom. I just held the power button. So I downloaded Hasoon2000's all in one method and used a different custom recovery. Same case. But after I held the power button to restart the phone, it just turned off. It was charging and even the notification light turned off. I tried holding the power button. After a few seconds a green bar flashes on the screen and the notification light starts flashing. When I let go of the power button the notification light stops flashing. I promise that if someone gets me through this I'll be eternally thankful and will lock the bootloader and never do anything stupid like this again. Sorry for the long post.

haha.
Dont worry. You are fine. hold down the power button for 15 seconds. the phone will flash when it its done. (15 flashes) then you will have to time this just right.... wait about 2 seconds. then hold down the volume down button and keep holding until it boots into your bootloader.

Now from here make sure you hit fastboot and try pushing the recovery again with ADB (your terminal on your computer (cmd)) or if you are using the all-in-one toolkit. Use that. ***hint... make sure it connects to the computer (it should make a noise or down in the bottom right show the drivers are loaded)

if it doesnt connect to the computer... you need to enable debugging in your developer settings if you have the ability to reboot the device normally and enable it. If you cannot reboot the device normally. you will need to read this Device Essential Material *** RUU,s / Recovery / Radio / Root / S-Off / Guides *** - xda-developers

make sure you know the difference that you have S3. Not S4

Good luck. Let me know if you need anything else

I bricked it too, following a YouTube tutorial. I'm not blaming him, but I've tried communicating with him and I can't seem to get him to reply. I also used the All-in-one with TWRP, but when I tried to flash into recovery, I couldn't find it in my phone, when I rebooted. I'm so confused, angry, frustrated, ready to throw my less than a 1yr old phone in the trash. Sorry I had to vent. :'(

Dont worry... its hard to brick it unless you do everything wrong and backwards.
1. Did you make a backup of your stock?
before you "bricked" your phone...
2. did you turn debugging on?
3. did you download all the HTC drivers to your computer?
4. when you boot into your bootloader (holding volume down and power) and click on recovery... TWRP doesnt come up?

Dont worry Ill help you. Just explain in great detail and Ill get your phone working.

Alright, I did a backup originally, but I did it on the phone through Google, not through my PC. I followed the instructions perfectly when I originally unlocked the bootloader. It wiped everything off= How to root htc one s step by step and unlock bootloader part2 - YouTube. I was okay with that, and I even had a working phone for a day. The next day, I watched the 2nd part of the video because I was getting ready to root and flash a CM10 ROM= How to root htc one s step by step and unlock bootloader Part 1 - YouTube. So then I tried to flash recovery, TWRP S4 from the All-In-One toolkit, and I chose TWRP S4 and hit flash recovery, I could see the TWRP file on my phone, but nothing happened. So I think I messed up when I tried to copy the SU file, I have downloaded it but I don't know how to get it in my phone since my PC is not recognizing my phone, I have SYNC Manager, I've installed the HTC drivers a million times, and it constantly tells me that they were not installed successfully. Do these drivers have to be in a particular area on my computer? When I download, I put them in folder on my desktop, and extract them from there. I now have like 20 folders due to all my attempts. In the video, he is able to open up his removable disk drive, which includes all the android files, but I don't have any of that since my phone isn't syncing with my comp, plus, everything is wiped off. My error was not dropping the UPDATE SU file to my phone, and now I am having problems flashing anything into my phone, when I reboot, the TeamWin Recovery Program logos come up, and I wipe, and clean cache's. Then I am unable to install SU, and says I am not rooted. I hope this made sense. There were too many steps during the last couple of days.

It sounds like the phone just isnt connected and pushing the correct information. I am not a fan of those All-in-one-tool kits. If I was you I would go download SDK Android SDK | Android Developers
Make sure you make a new folder on your C drive and name it android, then open the zip folder go into platformtools (or tools... I forget) and you will see fastboot, ADB, etc. copy all those files and put them in your new Android folder.

Then delete every driver you have from HTC. search the computer and make sure they are all gone. Go into each folder and delete whatever files it will allow you to (it may say some files are running, just skip over them) then restart the comp and delete the rest of the files. then download HTC Sync (not the HTC sync Manager) HTC Support Center
Its fine where ever the computer puts the files.

then inside the Tool kit folderyou will find the recovery that you want. copy that file and put it in your new android folder with your ADB and fastboot.
now open your terminal on your computer (cmd) and type "cd C:\android" (dont type the "") then plug your phone into the computer and reboot into your bootloader (this screen shows tampered at the top) then hit fastboot. the computer should make a noise as if it connected. then on your computer type "fastboot flash recovery {enter file name here}" (its okay if it repeats recovery example: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) and you should see it say completed at the bottom and you will be done at this point. Go back to bootloader on the phone and hit recovery and see if it loads. Once you can get TWRP up and running it will make sure you are rooted and will fix SU.

I use this often because it can push anything to your phone. Since the One S has a locked bootloader... All ROMs that we download will not work unless you flash the Boot.img with this process (unless you have S-off which a different story) but it would be the same process. open the ROM folder. find the Boot.img and copy it to your android folder. then go to your terminal and type "cd C:\android" then type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
and it will work everytime. if you miss this step you will never get past the boot animation.

Okay, I did almost exactly what you said:
1)downloaded sdk, 2)created a folder named New Android, 3)opened zip folder, copied adb, fastboot, and AdbWinApi.dll (only because every other website stated that there should be three items in the folder.
4)Installed HTC Sync, and it was able to install successfully.
5)I'm assuming you meant the All-In-One kit folder, went in there were several folders, one said Recoveries and one said SU, I copied the TWRPS4 recovery img, and put in my New Android folder. 6) Opened up the command box and typed in cd C:\New Android, fine, then I typed in fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, but changed it to fastboot flash recovery TWRPS4.img;sending and then finished.
7)Went back to bootloader and hit recovery, Came to a teamwin page and clicked install, pressed TWRP from list and nothing.
8)I'm not quite sure what I clicked but then it said I am not a SU, would you like to install? I click yes, and it says not found.
9)I ended up just going back to bootloader, so now I am wondering what I did wrong. :(

I am supposed to fix SU and root before I can flash right? I am not sure how I can get SU working. Thank you so much! I appreciate you helping me.

okay looks like you are messing the necessary Root files. check this link How to root your HTC One S (for Windows, Mac and Linux) - xda-developers
download this file and flash it to your device. and see if it reacts differently after going into recovery.
TWRP has a built in SU checker that makes sure the devices is rooted before it reboots the phone after flashing a new ROM. If it doesnt detect the Root access is will ask you to fix SU.
hopefully this will finally work for you.

also remember if you ever flash a custom Kernel you will need to flash the Boot.img from that using Fastboot. and also flash it with TWRP.

wait.... im confused what you did here (7)Went back to bootloader and hit recovery, Came to a teamwin page and clicked install, pressed TWRP from list and nothing.)
you do not need to flash anything if TWRP loads up. It should load and show Install, Wipe, backup, advanced, reboot, mount ... etc. buttons. If it shows that it is install correctly. make sure you have a back up. then make sure you have what ROM you want on your phone... if not download it on your comp and mount the phone and transfer the file to the main directory. then unmount and wipe everything except the SD card stuff. (do it three times each) and then install new ROM then reboot into bootloader and use fastboot to push the Boot.img from the ROM you just downloaded. then reboot and it should work

Yes, it shows Install, Wipe, backup, etc. I don't know how to back up, there is no OS on the phone, so what exactly am I backing up? I have downloaded the ROM, but my phone only shows up as a removable disk on the comp, how do I mount directory? It says Mount system, mount data, mount SD Card, which one do I choose? I downloaded the rom to a folder, and I see the boot.img, so I will have to put that into my New Android folder, right and then flash.

SIR!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! WOW, I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP. YOU GET MAJOR THUMBS UP!!!!

But this is the last question, how do I get my google apps back? I have already downloaded the gapps.zip file, what's my next step? I am afraid to flash anything right now!!! ;)

Alright you are almost done.
1st.. the phone should still have the stock ROM on it still... unless you wiped the system using TWRP.
to back it up... just boot into your recovery TWRP and hit backup. then slide the bar at the bottom.
2nd. You want to mount the SD card and it should pop up on your computer like a folder. The main folder with all your stuff in it is the main directory. put it in there and keep it a zip folder. (do not remove any files... the boot.img should still be in there)
3rd make sure the ROM you are using doesnt already have the Gapps built in. and If it doenst... make sure you have the right gapps for you ROM. this is crucial.
Might I ask... what ROM did you download?
and yes you said it perfect. copy the boot.img to your new android folder and use fastboot to push it "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
then go straight to TWRP and flash the new ROM.. just hit install and find the zip folder then swipe. then wipe dalvik and data one more time. then reboot

Ah! Late response, but I figured out how to get my Google Apps back. Thank you so much. ....You're going to hate me but, I've had the CM10 Nightlies ROM, and my camera and GPS don't work too well so I want to go back to stock now that T-Mobile released the Official 4.1 update. I have already downloaded the RUU file. Can you help me, please. I have an idea of what to do but I'm not 100% sure.

:p

No worries. I just did it myself. You will need to use your google search bar for this. But you will need to download the stock Boot.img for the RUU you downloaded.
First make sure debugging is check marked.
flash that using fastboot on your computer (place boot.img with your adb and fastboot files) then type in cmd (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
then in your recovery. Wipe the phone clean.
then open the RUU on your computer and make sure your phone is plugged in. It should help you through the process from there.
Once it boots up you will be able to update to Jellybean (4.1)
Good luck

i need help! i have next7p12 android, i've used Kustom-Kream_n7p12-v2 to root my device.
i am very happy because i can use my device well for a few weeks until this morning, i don't know what i did but i think i had a few installation before it happened.

the last thing i've downloaded is the [redacted] and tried to patch next launcher lite, but it failed so i guess this is not the reason.

my device problem is it won't open. it is stuck in the loading (i think), sorry because i'm an android newbie.

the computer can detect the device in the device manager, when i turned it on, the saying of abraham lincoln appear, the efun (with lock icon in the bottom) appear, then the loading...

then it is stuck in there...

please i need some help from the experts...

to be honest. I know nothing about this device. Each android device is rooted differently with different tools and procedures. And Im not sure how to help you with this since I dont have one... Plus its not very popular so developer support is minimal.
this is the only thing I could find about your device. Nexbook AMlogic root WORK!

thank you for your answer but i figured it out! and it works fine again! just tried to put it as a new device to my pc (which is very hard to do) then try my luck for the kustom kream to see my device then wohla! i just did a fresh root using the same rom. thanks again for your time!

I hope you can assist. I just rooted my Sprint Samsung S4 (MF9) SPH-1720 and added a few common root apps. The last app I recall adding was STweaks. Upon downloading it stated that I did not have (the right) kernals and I subsequently uninstalled it. This morning all of a sudden the phone has been rebooting and locking up, basically unusable, and I'm wondering if it is associated with STweaks? If not would it be easier just to unroot and start over?

Thank you for your assistance.

No STweaks wont do this. If you didnt have a custom kernel installed. It wouldnt be able to do anything. It sounds like a file did become corrupt. You can always do a factory reset. Or Im hoping you made a NANdroid backup in the custom recovery. If you did just restore it.
If you want to unroot. just relock the bootloader and do a factory reset. Id go searching first. Check out XDA-developers.com

CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE? I have the T-Mobile HTC one s in the USA. Its unlocked and has cyanogen stable ROM on it
With S-on. It was my first mod I've done on a cell and worked great. But it doesn't support WiFi calls. Unfortunately I didn't know or backup the original factory ruu or ROM. I need the original factory software back to what it was. Any help with details through video tips or anything would be so great. Also what ruu or ROM versions and where to get the stock factory ruu or ROM.
