Hello everybody.

Another one of those who changed from iPhone to Android, and happy about it!
But I've noticed that apps are a different story in Android language than in Apple language. It seems that inside my settings > apps, there's many more apps, than are visible on my homescreen.

So anyway, for an example - I've used Samsungs (yes I have an S8) "Link Share" app, to share videos and photos through text messaging. And after a couple of uses, it comes up and asks me if I want to add a Shortcut to it, to my home screen. I feel like this is a one time yes or no I have to answer here, if I won't get the notification again, since I really can't figure out, how to make the shortcut my self?

Isn't there a way to create shortcuts to some of the i assume "background apps?" that are also shown in the "Settings > Apps" section?

Welcome to the forums. You can add shortcuts on your home screens from the app drawer (that's one of the main differences between Android and iOS), not from settings - apps. Try this.

Hello, and thank you for a quick answer!

My situation is that, by default the app "Link Share" isn't visible anywhere, unless in the Settings > Apps, but now that I've used it, it has offered me opportunity to add a shortcut... I would just like to do it by my self manually :-)

I think 'Link share' doesn't need a shortcut on your home screen, you just long press a picture, video ... and the option should pop. See this thread.

Yeah, well I know it doesn't need a shortcut, it was just since it offered me to make one, the same happened with the app 'Reminder', and as I see in Settings > Apps, there are more apps like "SmartSwitch" that doesn't have an icon, I just wanted to know if its possible to make the shortcut yourself, or if you have to wait till the notification pops.... Hmmm

Smart switch is soemthing the phone uses when you're moving things over from another phone. It can be accessed via the menus.

Not all apps have a front facing thing like Facebook and stuff. Others are system driven through menus and such.

Ok try going to your app tray and open the three dot menu in the upper right. Click settings and then hide apps. See if the shortcuts are there. Hope this helps!

With regards to the specific apps you mentioned, smart switch can be installed from the Google Play Store,if it's not already pre installed

Link sharing gives you an option in the settings to add a shortcut to the app drawer

You can install smart switch from the Google Play Store if it isn't installed already.

Select link sharing, then select the cog in the upper right to open it's settings

Oh well, I don't have the cog, only the question mark :(
Maybe the s8 has a different version. You can still use quick shortcut maker which I linked to previously to make a shortcut to the app.
