It is currently 2:47AM on November 2. I am sitting in front of the local Best Buy store
typing this on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Why does it matter if it's a Verizon? Well....
there is zero data coverage in this part of the town from T-Mobile and AT&T.
My Verizon GN? It's getting a somewhat respectable 11mbps down, as tested on
speedtest.net.
Why am I not in my warm bed? It's 36 degrees right now. My arms are semi-frozen.
At least the rest of my body is relatively warm, thanks to a sleeping bag.
What am I doing? I'm waiting to buy the iPad Mini. Best Buy will start selling them at
8:00AM. Just before this store closed last night, the manager came out and told
me and the other people waiting in line that tickets will be handed out at 6:00AM.
There are 27 tickets available, according to her. I'm #22 in line.
It just occurred to me that I'm like that guy in the Samsung Galaxy S3 commercial
sitting in line waiting for the "new" iPhone. Almost. I'm here because my niece
wants the iPad Mini.
I got bored.. what else was there to do? so I chatted with the other 39 people in line.
(remember that there are only 27 tickets available at this store... so the 12 people
behind #27 are probably counting on one of us "lucky" 27 to give up and go home
before 6:00AM, yeah, like that'll ever happen)
Anyway, I took a poll and asked everybody in line what phones they were carrying.
It appears that I'm the only one with an Android phone, a Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
The rest were: 31 iPhones(4, 4S, and 5) and 2 Blackberries.
If you're still reading this.... I apologize. Does this thread have any meaning?
Probably not... but at least I am the only Verizon Galaxy Nexus owner, among
other "idiots"(well... I'm also not very bright, otherwise I wouldn't be here in the
first place!)
Oh, those iPhone owners are watching me type this on my Galaxy Nexus
right now. I just wish there is another Galaxy Nexus(or Galaxy S3) owner
here so I can do the trick with NFC, by touch the two together. Should
have brought my spare Galaxy Nexus with me.
Thee more cold hours to go....
Edit: I also wanted to give this Best Buy some credit for having the decency
to provide a couple of giant pots of free hot coffee for us. (although it's
somewhat lukewarm by now)
