I need a new phone, but I'm picky. (removable battery + microSD) Help!

My wonderful little wife refuses to use anything but an iPhone. Fine with me...happy wife, happy life.

Well, I had 3 iPhones over 6 years... but it was the only smartphone I'd ever used, so I was just completely unaware of what else is out there. I DID like that it integrated with my iPad and Macbook, which my Note 4 does NOT do, but I definitely love the ability to customize everything... iPhone is pretty much "what you see is what you get," which is fine for a lot of people. They are good phones, not gonna lie. And the customer service is also pretty awesome with Apple. But, I'm enjoying this new adventure. :)

I had the Galaxy S4, and switched to the G3. Love the phone, took a bit to re-train my brain for the "proper" button placement (Samsung has them reversed - back is on the right, menu/multi-task on the left. Proper button is back on the left, multi-task on the right), and the volume/power on the back as opposed to on the sides.

I do miss the bright colors of a Samsung AMOLED screen - the G3 screen colors are rather muted and dull, some would say "washed out" by comparison to a Samsung screen - but that's preference. I was torn between the Note 3 and G3 at time of purchase, and the G3 just felt better in the hand, although sometimes I wish I would have gotten the Note3. I think for myself the G3 was the better choice. It does have removeable battery and storage, so it does meet those requirements. Definately worth going into the store and holding both to see which fits your hand better.

(And as a side note, my S4 now feels TINY compared to my G3. The actual physical size difference isn't as big as it feels in the hand. (Going from the G3 to the S4 feels about like going from the S4 to an iPhone 4/4s as far as overall size and also screen size)

I actually did try them both in Target. I noticed the color issue but it wasn't THAT big a deal to me. I quite liked the buttons on the back. But I need to hold the phone without that gigantic tether on the back.
But "really dislike" isn't extreme enough to describe how I feel about onscreen buttons. ESPECIALLY when it's a big UGLY omnipresent black bar.

i guess you can get s5 and note 4 ,or iphone 6
if you don't have a budget limit

Well since the bank is playing around with this fraud claim, I might. I could do AT&T Next but I'm suspicious of it.
I reallllllly don't want to descend into the dark dungeon that is Apple again. LOL. Bad enough I have an iPad. There's really no benefit to having an iPhone unless you have a Mac computer too and I don't and probably won't ever have one as my main.

Galaxy Note 4, why in doubt?

Cause I wanted something different and I don't want to be a Samsung loyalist or whatever. The Notes really are just larger versions of the Galaxies LOL.

I also read something about the Note 4 not being rootable... God I hope not.

I don't have a recommendation for you, the smart "phonies" here will steer you in the right direction, but how did it get stolen? Grabbed out of your hands? Left it somewhere? I can say if someone grabbed it out of my hands it wouldn't end too well for them.

Well, your comment certainly doesn't help the OP. Why bother?

AC App on SGS3

Hi!

I would absolutely recommend the LG G3. It is a fantastic phone. I had Samsung galaxies all along and wow what a difference. Samsung lacks on many things that the LG picks up on. It feels great in the hand, runs smoothly, great camera, stylish, in my opinion you can't ask for more! I have never tried out a Nexus but can speak that you will not be disappointed if you purchase the LG G3.

Good luck!

But "really dislike" isn't extreme enough to describe how I feel about onscreen buttons. ESPECIALLY when it's a big UGLY omnipresent black bar.

Thankfully on the G3, it's got a transparent background on the home screens, and on some apps it automatically hides itself. (typical 4.4 stuff). However, LG also allows you to "theme" it somewhat - solid white background, gradient white (both have dark icons), solid black, or gradient black (with white icons of course).

I see the advantages of both (capacitive and touchscreen buttons). Personally if I was to go with capacitive buttons, I'd skip the "clicky" home button Samsung likes. To me it feels like it screws up the consistency of the experience - either go all capacitive buttons, or all physical clicky buttons. Or go with on-screen (which opens up possibilities as far as gestures too) I'm not trying to sway you one way or the other, but I think the G3 is probably the best fit for you aside from Samsung. (On a side note - ask the sales rep if they have an open box model that you can hold. I did that when I was comparing the G3 vs the Note 3. It was a toss-up between the 2 until I could hold each one WITHOUT that nasty tether attached!)
