i rooted my evo and installed a mod i cant remember which one and when it rebooted the boot animation shows a penguin and a android flying across the screen keep saying freshhh evo.

i wanna unroot my phone but i can't get to the home screen cause im stuck on the boot animation.

please tell me i can still unroot and this wont be an issue.

You don't need to unroot, go into recovery, wipe and reflash fresh. Fresh is the rom you installed.

No need to panic.

If you used Rom Manager just make sure to select "wipe data" before you install a new ROM.

Here's what you should do right now:

1. Download a ROM on your computer (anyone that you want)

2. Boot your phone in to recovery (power off your phone, press volume down plus the power button, if your phone asks you to update, hit no, if it asks you to reboot, hit no, select recovery)

3. Go to the partitions menu and erase/format all of your partitions EXCEPT sdcard

4. Mount the sdcard as USB storage in recovery, copy the rom over that you downloaded

5. Go back in recovery to the main menu where you can install a zip from the sdcard ad navigate to the rom you just copied over and install it

I know its been said before, but you need to read read read Joey! There is nothing wrong with asking questions and trying to get help (We all have done it), but a lot of your questions have already previously been answered in the forums ( I'm sure at least 1 of them by a thread started by me ) and you currently own 26% of the forums main page real-estate... there are lots of people on here to help and the people who monitor a moderate the sight are awesome ( RAISE THE ROOF FOR IGOTSANEVO4G, AND EVERYONE ELSE AS THEY HELPED ME A LOT ) .... I am new to all of this myself and am gonna try to start giving back some of the knowledge i have learned on this site myself and pay it forward ..... don't take this as negitive as its not a rant in any way, I encourage you to ask as everyone is here to help with what they can, just read a little first :)

I rooted my EVO today. I have been researching rooting the EVO alone for about two weeks. Before that, I rooted and ROMmed an Optimus S. I also have a background in shell scripting and Unix. I say this definitely not to brag, but to say that it is very important to prepare yourself and have an understanding of what you are doing and why. I am nowhere near being in the league of the devs and programmers and advanced users here. I do hope to be though. I know what it is like to want to jump in and get started...you get all pumped and ready to go. I guess I am saying just take a deep breath, do your research and when the time comes you will be much more confident.

I do hope this does not offend anyone but I have seen too many cases irl in my line of work where people jump the gun and cause themselves a lot of heartache.
