I need STEP BY STEP rooting instructions, please.

Does your computer hide file extensions? Like .zip? You could be getting those in there twice....:long shot:

Sorry guys for not updating sooner. No luck. I had my wife try too. So far, we've used 2 lap tops with Windows 7 and a PC with XP. Drivers successfully installed (installed then 20 times). I push "12" then "7," and othing happens when I hit "7."

I've YouTubed everything, Googled instructions, and I'm at a total loss. I gotta find someone who can do it for me. I just wish I knew someone lol. I even called Samsung to ask for their help and they shot me down.

At this point I have no idea what's going wrong. These things are bullet proof, so it has to be something that downloaded incorrectly or some interface that isn't working.

Did you try new USB cords? Do you have a Mac?

Lol want to overnight me your phone and have me do it? Not even joking.. If you cover the couple bucks cost ill send it back the same day, will have her unlocked and rooted and ready to go for you :)

The offer is appreciated guys. My brother is a computer software designer. I'm gonna try his services 1st.

Keep us posted.

I just thought of this, so feel free to disregard it if it's too..drastic. But...you could, in theory, use Wug's to take it back to stock (re-lock it) then use it to unlock/root. Perhaps if it's taken back to stock by it there might be some weird, sorcery-like synergy that will allow you to complete the process.

That being said, getting the same error across two different toolkits implies that there's something misconfigured on the phone itself, not necessarily with the toolkits.

If you had a Mac I could get you unlocked/rooted in a matter of minutes :(.

My brother has a Mac. Here are the specifics:

When I'm in fastboot, and only fastboot, it doesn't recognize my serial number. I'm using Wugfresh Toolkit v1.4 "one click method."

I dont have a mac but the first thing that made me think of reading your post, was if the driver software installed correctly .

So with your phone connected to your computer and in fastboot mode. Do you have a yellow triangle showing in device manager? If so that probably is the problem.

Ok, I'm even getting frustrated FOR you. I've been there, so I can relate. Here's what I did for my wife's GN, using a Win 7 laptop (and a USB connected to the side).

1st/2nd try - thought I'd have the drivers installed since I already rooted mine and a Galaxy Tab 10.1, so I tried to unlock right away. Got to the point of Fastboot recognizing the device, no luck, so decided to go back in and go through all of his steps in the program. Having tried shortcuts with no luck, I finally decided to go in and delete every single Samsung related driver there was (Wug has clues for what to look for in the software).

Final attempt - after clearing out all drivers, I went through and did the step by step check of configuring the drivers. During the process, there were a couple of times where I thought something was wrong (little yellow triangle in device manager), but I stayed the course with patience, and after a bunch of times with the device being re-recognized, I finally got to the final step of device configuration. You HAVE to be patient during downloads and devices being recognized. It take at least a few minutes. Yahoo!

Then went on to root according to Wug and all was fine. Moral of the story for me: don't assume anything is ok if you haven't gone back to square one and started, methodically, from the beginning. Perhaps you made a mistake or two like me?
