I own my samsung galaxy note 2 and I use straight talk prepaid plan, should I root my phone?

I own my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 model SGH-T889, there is no warranty on it. I use Straight Talk Prepaid service .I have had trouble with the WiFi and Bluetooth , I have trouble with it using all my data, which is suppose to be unlimited , the battery won't last like they say , and I have trouble with it staying connected to network. Should I root my phone? will that fix my problem. The Geek Squad said for me to take it back to Samsung. Some one please advice me in what to do.
