I reset my Nexus 10 to give to my son and cannot get it to reboot, what should I do?

reset my nexus 10 to give to my son and canot get it to reboot

It starts and i get to ehere its checking for updates and Unfortunatey, Google Play has stopped. pops up and I cant do anything with it.

Was running 5.1 and worked great!
Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! Is it Google Play Services that stops, or Google Play Store? What happens after you acknowledge the error message--does it stay frozen? Are you able to power off and then power back on again?
