Because man was it a lot smaller than I anticipated. However, it worked beautifully.

I still want one, I think. :-) I demoed at T-mobile, they were like vultures on me

You know, it is smaller than I thought it would be, but while I was waiting on the sales clowns at VzW, I picked up the iPad, and even if it wasn't an iDevice, it's still too damn big, IMHO. This thing is just right for sitting on the couch or in bed browsing the internet. The faux wood background on the Calendar app is a little weird, but other than that, I'm happy. Oh, and it tethers without root!

I'm the opposite... having a DX that is 4.3" and knowing the Galaxy Tab is 7" I expected it to be smaller than it is. After playing with one at Best Buy I decided to get one when I originally had said it wouldn't happen.

I have the iPad and I have the new Tab. Size ... I was skeptical that I'd enjoy the Tab's smaller footprint with such a nice big screen as the iPad BUT once you start using it, I found it fits so much better in your hand. It feels better than the iPad did. I don't know how to describe it but the size down makes a huge difference in my desire to use the Tab compared to the iPad.

I went to best buy today to check out the tab today. Looked great, felt great in the hand too. My wife has an iPad so I was able to compare. It was all looking great until I turned it on. I'm hoping this was a bad demo unit, but it ran super slow compared to my incredible and iPad. The keyboard was really slow and would freeze up. I checked the running apps thinking something was slowing it down, but there wasn't. It wouldn't turn to portrait with the front camera on top, only with the camera on the bottom. It was just all bad, now I really want to go see it somewhere else to see how it should be running, I hope. I asked the employee why it ran so bad but he said he wasn't familiar with android at all, I'm guessing this best buy won't be selling any units with an experience like I had. I will post an update after I go see it by work tomorrow.

I'm typing this on my wife's iPad, yes it's big and heavy, but it's fast and works great. Im not a apple fanboy, just a fan of good technology no matter the brand.

I played with one at Best Buy today as well, very shocked at the size. To me, its the perfect size. I was very impressed with the size, fits perfect in your hand and it was very responsive and fast. I really didn't think I was going to be that impressed by it, but I was. The size of it was just perfect, I could really see myself making use of it. They also had a lot of accessory's for it as well, which was nice to see. Comparing it to an Ipad, and the Ipad just seems to big, this is just my opinion. The Galaxy tab to me, is in the sweet spot. If you haven't played with one, check it out. I know I put it on my X-mas list, lol..:p

I think it was definitely a bad demo unit for you- I've played with two at best buy now and they are as snappy as mu droid x or better.

Mine has very little lag regardless of what I'm doing. The only time I notice issues is when using the stock browser --- but switching to Dolphin HD has resolved that complaint.

Love my new tab. Only real gripe I have is everything is formatted for 4x1, there are slim to none applications that are formatted for 5x1 which I believe the tab uses. Im using launcherpro for now.

IMHO the size is perfect. Ive been carrying mine around for a few days and most people ask what book im reading because I have mine in the portfolio case. I then show them the tab and they are amazed.

Ive already gotten is that a mini-Ipad 4000 times it seems lol.

Definitely get dolphin browser hd....the stock tab browser sucks.and.ruins thr experience but dolphin was made for a tablet with its tabs etc

Update: I went to Vzw today to give the tab another test. I'm convinced the one at best buy was a bad demo unit. What I saw today was what I had expected and wished for, fast and fun. Can only expect it to be much better with froyo or newer OS. Now I feel comfortable recommending it to friends and family that ask me the tech questions.
