So I was running SuperClean and everything was working great for several weeks. Then today as I'm charging it on my vehicle charger, it jumped to 100%, I unplugged it and it slowly starting coming down. Then inexplicably while unplugged jumped from 88% to 100%. After that I went into recovery and wiped my battery stats and Dalvik cache. Everything seemed to be fine afterwards until I shut it down for the night. The empty battery icon pops up with a spinning disc thing but it does not show it charging and now my phone will not boot up, wont go into recovery, and wont go into download mode so I can use Odin...am I SOL?

Can you get into download mode without the battery? Can you get into recover with it plugged in? Your battery might be bad, but I am not sure. Car chargers run a quick charge and not as deep of a charge as the regular charger, from what I understand.

if I hit the power button with or without it plugged in all I get is a battery picture with the circle thing on it. It will not boot up with or without being plugged in. I cannot get to recover nor will it go into download mode. I also switched batteries with my wifes that was working and it showed the same signs. I'm stumped....she's a brick.

Ok, but did you try booting into download mode without your battery? If that doesn't work, then yes, you have a brick.

EDIT:Sorry for killing it off so soon...

Not necessarily... You can make or buy a "jig" to force the phone into download mode.

To the OP, confirm you have done all the following:
- With battery in, hold volume + and power; should boot phone. If not,
- With battery in, hold volume + and volume - and power; should boot into recovery. If not,
- With battery out and USB cord plugged into PC (into a port directly connected to motherboard, not a hub), hold volume - and insert USB into phone; should boot into download mode

If none of these have worked, look into the jig to see if that will work

I've tried everything here. All I get is a battery symbol with the circle thing. It will not go into download mode at all using any method. I'm at a loss...

Something isn't quite adding up... Just doesn't make sense. Did you try the jig as well? Are you familiar with ADB at all?

Maybe a little more detailed info about exactly what happened before this started so we can try to rule some things out

are you using the stock (from samsung) usb cable? what about removing the sd card?

I was actually running the Com ROM 1.3 since it was first available and had no issues until Friday, June 10th. I was driving and realized it need to be charge so I hooked it up to the vehicle charger. In less than 5 mins it went from 45% to 100%. I unplugged it and it slowly started draining acting normal. Once it got to about 88% while unplugged, it jumped back up to 100%. I then wiped my battery stats and did a dalvik cache wipe. I rebooted from the pop up screen and it seemed normal. That night I turned it off to charge. Once I plugged the wall outlet in I noticed I didnt get the normal green charging icon, just a blank screen, so I tried to boot it up and all I got was a blank battery icon with a frozen circle thing on it. That's what I see if I hit the power button and whether its plugged into the wall or computer makes no difference. I cannot get into recovery and can not get into download mode with or without the battery in. I also put in my wife's battery and it behaves the same.

Using stock Samsung cable and tried removing SD Card..no luck

also...I "googled around" and found a mention of a method that enabled the download mode by plugging the cable into the phone pressed and held the volume button then (while holding) popped in the battery.

post #9... [Q] Cant get Fascinate into download mode help! - xda-developers

the post states that its "how its down for the fascinate" while I have never had to do that, I thought I would share in case your phone responds to that particular sequence.

I also found an Odin sequence in case some of the all in one files wont go when you get to that point.

There's something missing in between here. Did you wipe battery stats and dalvik cache from CWM? If so what pop up screen did you reboot from. The only pop up menu I am aware of from which you can reboot is the long press power button menu. Which means you phone was in recovery mode to do those wipes. Did you reboot your phone from CWM, then reboot it again from the long press power menu?

After I noticed the strange battery issues, I long pressed the power button then hit Recovery. It went into Recovery fine. I did the wipes then hit reboot from CWM. Once it booted up it seemed fine...until I long pressed and shutdown for the night. From that point on, it wont go into CWM wont go into download mode, wont recognize power input from either computer or wall outlet.

well for some reason it just booted into CWM out of the blue...I rebooted from CWM, it booted up fine. I then went into download mode by long pressing and am currently doing a factory reset to DL09. It seems to be fine...I will post updates shortly. I didnt do anything different for it to boot up into CWM. I didnt even hit volume up and down and power...just power. Very weird things going on with this phone.

I wonder if you were in CWM the whole time. Cause the battery pulls may not have let you out. The power button would not work either.

Just a thought.

Has anyone tried going into CWM and blank the screen, then plug the phone in to see the battery icon?

well so it appears my problem was leaving my phone in the bathroom near my shower when I was taking a shower, causing moisture to get on my USB port. This caused minor corrosion on the USB connectors that made it think it was plugged in the whole time. I'm not sure how that also manifested in a power up problem but it is what it is. I cleaned the port thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and compressed air and am now running ComROM 2.0 and all appears well. I can boot up like normal now.
