I bought a battery off of ebay and the seller said that it was a new oem battery for my fascinate but when I tried to charge it with the phone it came up as "unsupported". The new battery's part number is EB575152VA as compared to the one that came with the phone which is EB575152YZ. So did I just throw $20.00 away or do I need to do something else to charge it. I rooted to debloated EB01 with a battery monitor add on (shows percentage).

Contact the seller first. It may just be a mistake. On eBay, everything is about getting a high star rating...so the seller will either send a correct battery or refund your money. If they don't, escalate case to eBay Buyer's Protection Plan and get your money back. Your $20.00 is safe either way! :)

You can buy a compatible charger for it, thats what I debated on doing when I received my stock OEM samsung battery and found out it was unsupported in my phone when charging. The seller glady accepted the return and refunded my money; I turned around and bought a VZW spare battery and dock kit for $25 instead.

I sell and buy on eBay full time. just don't waste time and contact the seller I'm sure they will refund you your money. If not just open a case with eBay and they will decide whether it was "not as described item" (as would be the case here) or if the seller described your problems.

I just contacted the seller and I'm waiting to hear back. I'm not sure what the difference is between the batteries. They appear to be the same other than the color of the label and the last two digits of the part number.

from what i understand alot of the 3rd party batteries wont work in our phones, unless the are licensed by Samsung or Verizon. please someone correct me if I'm wrong

This is a verizon battery. It just has a slightly different part number. I have tried to charge it in the phone and with the Samsung independent charger with no luck.

Honestly. I have bought memory cards and batteries off Ebay and Amazon.
You can bet if they are cheapies they are fakes. Been stung enough.

If you understand this they then are a good deal (Except when they will not work).
If you want OEM batteries I would suggest getting them at your carrier that way you know for sure and they have a one year warranty.
I usually get memory cards at like Walmart or Best Buy etc.
With both ways you can take them back if there is a problem.
