Went to bed last night with phone beside me at 40%.

Woke up to it not even on, completely dead battery.

i've even done out of the box tweaks... here's the problem i don't even want to have to do out of the box tweaks to get a device to work the way it SHOULD work "out of the box" - Regardless it can't even handle night idle'ing with those tweaks..

Here's the weird part, it was fine the night before.. but last night? not fine.. that sort of Randomness makes me not trust my device.. i mean wtf is even going on?

i'm happy with everything else on this thing.. but wow the android platform as a whole needs to get these very basic things taken care of.

I agree 100%..To much randomness in the platform. If it wasn't for Apples garbage battery I would have jumped ship. Both M9 and S6 seemed to have taken a step back this year although it might be Lollipop since my M8 took a huge hit after the upgrade.

Garbage battery ? I've already managed 15 hours out of a single charge & I'm currently sitting at 29%.

Seems to me Samsung hasn't optimized the software to work well with the battery in the S6 or Edge. I'm thinking of canceling my order now.

Yeah my 6 plus probably had the best device battery I've EVER had. Sometimes I would go 3 days on that thing

Well on my Note 4 and I can get about 28 hours before it dying.

You cant compare ur crapple phone 6 plus to a non phablet type phone.
My friends crapple phone 6 barely gets him through a day at work before he has to charge it back up.

My chat response from Samsung on the battery issue.....really other alternatives...

I hear you and understand your frustration but bare with me for a moment here.

If you return it you are willing to get a new one, other model or something, so you will need to redo all your settings and stuff, so I'd recommend that you try to do a Factory reset first, not via the software, via the recovery menu, then since the first boot up, just turn off, Smart Network, Scanning Always Available (Both in WIFI settings) and VoLTE on Phone settings, none of those 3 are needed and all of them cause Unnecessary Battery Drain. About the Wifi Calling, just turn it on if needed, no need to have it on all the time.

With the above, give it at least a day, a full charge and see what happens, if nothing gets better, get it back. Good Luck.

i don't get people that don't charge everynight... but i guess people have their reasons..

i would complain if the battery didn't last me till 3pm... but if it lasts me all day i consider it pretty good battery life...
i usually jack up my brightness to 100%, wifi on, BT for my moto360, location services on and both my note 4 and oneplus one last me till the evening.

oh well... i guess people have their needs.. hopefully battery life gets better with more updates for those people

Never understood why people don't charge their phones every night anyway. I always plug my Gear S, iPad, iPhone, etc. in before I go to bed and am perfectly fine having to do that. It seems like most people are satisfied with battery life of a singles day use for most devices in order to have better portability. I.E. Slimmer, lighter, smaller devices. It would be nice for them to last longer but unless you can get two full days or more, a slight improvement that only gets you half the way through a 2nd day wouldn't be of much use.

Ha, I missed my alarm and missed the commuter train this morning because the stupid S6 Edge died. I had 60% showing when I went to bed and since I slept in another room (wife and daughter kicked me out to watch a movie) I didn't have a charger connected. I figured I might lose up to 10% and didn't even consider it would die in the 5.5 hours of sleep I had planned.

Utterly rediculous

That really sucks. I have the same severe WiFi Standby drain on my S6.

Not to flame (I happen to like all 4 major platforms), but by way of comparison, Apple has nailed WiFi battery life - I have done that many times (not the getting kicked out part! ;) ) and will maybe lose 1% overnight on WiFi with the iPhone when I have an unexpected situation where I don't have a charger.

Is your S6 on T-Mobile or AT&T?

Not trying to be mean, all ssriousness, why can't you charge it at night? Presumably you're asleep any way, so you can't be using it?

So far my edge has lasted me through my day. Fairly heavy user. Mostly Internet browsing/tweeting/messaging etc.

I easily get what I used to get with my 5S. It's not as good as my note 4 or 6+ but it's not usable.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I usually charge my phone every night. That said, I've found myself in situations (as I'm sure others have) where I had plenty of battery life at the end of the day, maybe 65% or more and my charger wasn't available so I didn't worry too my with my iPhone 6 Plus since it would only discharge 1% overnight anyway.

Situations include staying at a hotel next to my office because of a severe snowstorm, leaving my charger at my parents house accidentally during a family dinner and realizing it too late when I got home, going on an overnight camping trip, and coming home very late and not wanting to disturb my wife and baby when she had my charger in the baby's room for her phone.

It does happen (not being always able to charge your phone at night) but with my 6 Plus and my Lumia 1520 it was never even the slightest issue because they were amazingly efficient in Standby. As much as I love my S6, with its terrible Standby drain I feel in many ways like I've regressed back to an age when you had to constantly worry about your phone's battery life and, coming back to the Android world after a long pause, I haven't had that in quite some time.

Right but poor standby time is a factor with almost all Android phones. My Nexus 6, Note 4 and moto x 2014 all had poor standby like that. I get extreme situations but it's kind hard to expect hardware and software engineers to plan for things like that. I'm sure they set the goal at a day, max. I can't imagine they plan for it to last in a variety of odd scenarios like that.

The battery life on the iPhone 6 plus is amazing. You're wrong about that one buddy.
