I thought X would get FROYO First?

First the X was supposed to be shipped with 2.2 and then it was going to be updated quickly. Now it looks that the DINC will be getting the update before the X?

Dont get me wrong, I dont have a problem with another phone getting this update first, but I switched to this device because the leaks said the X would get all updates quicker. Yet it doesnt really happen that way.

Well even bofre the phone came out they said that the MotoDroid would get the update before the X, so its just a matter of where you heard what. The official report said MotoDroid in July and the X in late summer/ August

It's hard to predict when Motorola or Verizon doesn't give hard release dates, and generally they don't unless they're absolutely positive, so it's easier to be general so they have release leeway instead of them having to 'push back' a set date.

I do hope they release Froyo for the X in August; the sooner the better.

A couple of things to consider. First HTC has been busy porting SenseUI over to 2.2 for quite a while so they have a head start in getting 2.2 onto the incredible.

Secondly, I think moto had to wait for some of their own code to go final before actually starting the porting work. Either way, it will come when it comes. I'm not worried.

I certainly enjoy reading and keeping up with the info on updates and when they will occur....but it didn't take long to learn that the only way I would know when an update was coming is when I saw it on my phone.

To be fair to the rumor mill, the first OTA update for the X did indeed go live yesterday. I can Say from experience that OTA updates usually go out after peak hours like that.

So I'd be willing to guess that froyo is slated for mid August, depending on how the port goes.

It doesnt bother me that something hasnt happened. What bothers me is that all this misinformation could be cleared up with a simple email.

I know that it has been said before and will be said countless times again, but it is still the same thing. Nothing good comes out of rumors. The companies arent at fault for the rumors at all. I understand that.


Honestly at this point I am happy that my phone has 3G service again instead of the 1x I had all day yesterday.
