HTC Zoe to me is that one killer feature which could sell this device above anything else. I'm an iPhone user currently, and this is a feature I'd love to have in a device to capture my kids. The fact that your phone can create these moments for you to easily share is so awesome. I'm hopeful HTC markets this feature like crazy. This video below is a great example.

Plus you can use action shot, object removal and always smile features after the shots been taken with your Zoe

That's cool Russ. What do action shot and always smile do?

This pic shows action shot.

And easier to quote this:
"Always Smile is a function which uses facial recognition to pick people out in an image. Once highlighted, you can scroll that part of the image backwards or forwards through the clip with the selected portion of the frame then being merged seamlessly into the rest of the image."

Great info Russ. I'll check it out. Are you finding it pretty easy to create and share your Zoe's?

Create? Just click the Zoe button when using camera and take a shot.
Not shared any yet, they all stay on my phone and become part of my highlights. The highlights btw is where all your pics and Zoes really come to life, it's awesome :-):-)

Zoe's make your gallery look like a Harry Potter newspaper, where all the pictures move, really cool! Beware the file size though, with 20+ HD images + 1080p video in each one start thinking in terms of 2 or 3 per gb, yes gb! Also worth noting that uploads to the HTC Share are time limited, think its about a month, so don't rely on that for permanent storage. HTC were doing something in conjunction with Dropbox, if you register from a HTC device and completed certain tasks (like inviting friends to sign up or sharing an image) you got extra storage space for free. I have about 26gb free for two years, not to be sniffed at.

2-3 gigs? My 4 Zoes and all my pics (in not gonna count them there's a good few albums from old phones too) taking 377mb so far....

Sorry if I'm mistaken, but I based the numbers from another One owner.

Sorry my mistake, info plucked from techradar review and then suffered a typo in my brain! Should be more like 10 zoe's per half gig, still massive if you are used to shooting at will without giving a thought to your unexpandable memory.

HTC One review: HTC Zoe | Phone Reviews | TechRadar

The HTC One also confusingly will turn this high res movie into many, many images in the folder. This won't show up in the gallery, but if you want to share a photo with a third party app like Facebook you'll suddenly find you've got hundreds of snaps when you thought you'd only taken 15. Also, the file sizes are massive, with a single event (made up of around 10 Zoes) taking up half a gigabyte of space on your unexpandable hard drive.

You can save these to an HTC Zoe Share server to show to family and friends and free up valuable space, but they will expire after a month rather than living there indefinitely. Of course, you can use something like Dropbox here, but it doesn't really solve the fact that long term you'll need to be really frugal with your memories.

I have a question about the Zoe's. In many of them you can see lines and little squiggles that should not be there. In some of these pics I see vertical lines that go the length of the picture, and in others there are a multitude of jaggedy lines. Does this only show on MY computer? Is it the translation from camera to computer? They look like the stuff in old time movies. I know very little about pixels, photography, or whatever, but will these lines be in my Zoes? What are they?

These are not Zoe's, these are the highlight videos that the HTC One gallery puts together on its own featuring a selection of images/videos from a specific event. Events are a group of images that it deems related based on the date or location they were taken, it then mashes them up into a 30 second video and adds music and effects. It is these 'effects' that you are seeing.

Am I able to send the highlight videos to friends and family? Most importantly, my wife has an iPhone.

Just checked one in my gallery and it is a 14mb mp4 so shouldn't be too much of a problem to email. iPhones don't like most media though unless it comes from iTunes, so when I sent one to my wifes iPad this morning I sent it as a link to a dropbox file, which she then had to download and play. It does work though.

They do have some cool features, and worth considering, I just have to face the challenge of carrier change to get one :(

That's a highlight video viewed with the "Islandia" or "Eifel" (if it's black and white) theme. There are six preset filter/music combinations that you can use for the highlight videos. When you are previeiwing "Events" in the Gallery the app seems to randomly scroll through the themes for the filters for the previews.
