I want lollipop already

If Sammy can put out the update for their bloated touchwiz devices, there is no reason it should take so long for Motorola to do it for the lean skinned '13 X.

The word from Motorola is that the delay is due to the X's unique architecture.

Some things to think about:
  • there's a lot more to consider besides outward appearance and user interface when rolling out a major OS version
  • it's not unusual for newer products to get the most attention when it comes to updates

Call me cynical but I think if Motorola rushed a release, I bet the people screaming loudest now for a faster update would be the one's screaming loudest at a buggy rushed release. It's a no-win situation for Motorola when it comes to customers like that.

I read that too yesterday that they are having stability issues with the SD processor on the 2013 X.

Well...luckily I won't have to wait much at all. I have to move over to AT&T and getting a new Nexus 6!

My N7 2013 on Lollipop wasn't too bad. Still is running like a champ and not getting the slowdowns everyone is complaining about. Guess I be lucky. I'm curious to current N6 owners, did you end up dropping the tablet and just went exclusively to N6 or do you find yourself still using both?

So, all we know is that Motorola tweeted that they were having trouble with the chip set and we should keep waiting?

Right now, I'm running Cyanogenmod 12 on my Moto X (Their version of Lollipop) and I absolutely love it. Its not slowing down my system in the slightest. I figure that this will tide me over until the powers that be deem Lollipop is ready to roll out to us Moto X 1st gen users.

Jeez! The Moto E, in Brazil and India, is getting Lollipop, 5.0.2, rolled out today...just no "love" for our Moto X's (2013). "We will gets it when we gets it".

Again, not a single phone from 2013 has been updated and not even all phones from 2014.
There's something drastically wrong, but it's not Motorola this time

This G3 has 5.0.1 and while it seems to run without flaw I can't see what the big deal is if you have a well-working Kit Kat implementation.

G3 📱🍭

The problem is Lollipop. It really wasn't ready when Google released it, and the release has been a bumpy road ever since. I just got it on my Nexus 7 2013 LTE a few weeks ago, and I get all sorts of random reboots.

I feel for them, I genuinely do, but as Ultravisitor pointed out, they are fighting with bad code. I know I've compared with Apple on this before, but come on! Apple has had at least a half dozen updates roll out since Lollipop was released. I can't imagine that Google is short of developers.
