I want more control over my phone

Is there an app (or apps) that allows you to:

1. control what icons appear across the bar across the top of the screen?
2. control what appears in the notification pulldown?

I know the two are unrelated, but am looking for a way to reduce the clutter. I prefer the minimal look and want to see fewer icons and crap cluttering my notification pulldown.

Root it and you can do it!

Not sure. I'm willing to bet no though. I would like to change the color or my icons to match my wallpaper but I can't do that with stock firmware. Rooted I can as long as I pick a custom theme that has the color I'm looking for otherwise I can't do that either. If you want more control that what you have now stock then rooting is your best bet.
