Hello, new S7 Edge owner who came from a Priv (and a long line of BB's before that)

I've searched high and low the last 2 days for answer but can't find an easy one.

Is it possible to have the notification LED work while the screen is on?

I've come across an XDA thread that suggests I can use Tasker to do it. LED Notification and AOD on/off programmatic… | Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
Before I invest my time (and possibly money) into Tasker, is there a simpler way of doing this?

I don't have an answer for you, but I am curious as to why you want this, since this would put an additional drain on the battery as you would be using a third party background service to achieve it.

Battery drain isn't that big of an issue for me. I leave my device charging at work all the time.

The reason for this is there's lots of times when I am on my phone and a new message comes in but I don't have time to reply to it. But I still want the LED notifications to remind me that I have messages waiting for me. AoD isn't working the way I had hoped it would.

Meh I turn off AOD. You can just turn on repeat notifications so it would alert you every so often that you have an unread message.

All of my Android phones had an icon that shows up on the left side of your status bar.
It would stay there until I read the message or email. Works for voicemails and missed calls also.
