Do you think a case will actually hurt this phone? Since it was designed to pop apart in order to absorb the shock and blow, having a case on it holds it together to where the shock doesn't dissipate with it's deconstruction.

I don't know. I just can't imagine NOT using a case on any of my phones. I've thought about it before. That was a scary .00002 seconds!
The V20 is just to handsome to me to not protect but I may be alone in that assessment.

I don't think it makes much difference. Too many variables in the way a phone falls. The case offers additional protection but it varies from one case to the next.
