I will be leaving the iPhone for the Galaxy Note 2

i've been a long time iphone user, since Gen 1, and before that an avid Treo users, all versions. That said, getting the note 2 as the first Android has been very great. although there were some things i had to get used to, such as not having visual voicemail. Google voice fixed that. I must admit, that the main thing that got me was the S PEN, and it hasn't disappointed me yet. Ability to take notes in meetings and sketches has proved to be priceless.

One thing that I would highly recommend to those getting the note, get a case when it comes out. A good one. I dropped mine after just 6 days, and the screen cracked. It mustve hit the ground at the right angle, because i've dropped my other phones numerous times without a hitch.

The camera isn't too bad, and the screen size, i thought it was too big at first, but now, I see other phones, like the iphone and they look like toys. the navigation is awesome and the size of the screen really helps when placing it on hte car dash.

can't wait for more SPEN optimized apps to come out.

Google voice? It does visual voicemail? Is it an app or stock on the phone? Sorry... I'm an iPhone user. What about using iTunes? Im told there's apps for using your android with iTunes. Suggestions? Thanks!

Has anyone thought about the US version of the HTC J Butterfly (DLX / Droid Incredible X)?

I have, but I really like the idea of having the stylus. Especially with it tucked away as part of the phone. Just the whole form factor of the original note, and now the Note 2 seems awesome to me. There will always be new devices out, but this one seems like the most future proof device out right now.

having been with iOS since the start, and this being my first android device, i must say that I am very impressed, especialy with Google Now. I still get looks for having such a big phone and friends joke around saying its a ipad mini. but I dont care, the screen is gorgeous, and i must admit, the add'l real estate works wonders when using hte navigation or netflix apps. when i look at my frineds iphones, they seem comically small to me now.

that said, i only have 2 real gripes, and this could be bc I am still not used to the phone or the menu's.
1. settings are hard to find and seem to be dependent on the developer. i've noticed that one app has settings and menu's using hte soft key, and others its buried within the app. this non-standard implementation has made making what should be quick changes, i spend minutes going through different menu's to find what i'm looking for.
2. i seem to have to restart the device quite a bit. over the past few days, i've restarted it at least 6 times, due to some apps hanging, or the phone just being very slow, even though the task app manager says there are only 3 apps running, K9 - email, messaging, and talk. whereas my iphone 4, i probably only restarted it a few times over the course of the 2 years i had it. there were also times when the screen would no longer rotate, such as in netflix or when using the notes app. a restart would help.

Other than those 2 points, its a great device and jelly bean 4.1.1 seems to be the OS to make more converts from iOS. i've shown friends with other android devices and they are in awe of 4.1.1, so seems like we lucked out and got a lot of bells and whistles in this OS. great time to make the move.

I'm making the jump with you all as well. I've been using an iPhone 4 for over 2 years, and frankly, Apple bores me. When I seen the original Note, I knew instantly that I wanted it as soon as I was due for an upgrade. Of course then rumors started about the Note 2, and I've been hanging on every report for the past 4 months. Can't wait to have that enormous monstrosity of a phone-on-steroids in my hands! I seriously know more about it than any of the AT&T customer service personnel at my local store.

Talked to AT&T and the grandfathered unlimited plan carries over from the iphone to the Note 2. They call it something else though, since it is on the 4G LTE network.
