it's great to have finally joined this forum. I now have a new ATT Samsung Captivate. This is, believe it or not, my first smartphone. Sorry I'm so late to the party. It has the usual ATT bloatware and more. i see several 'ROMs' being discussed in the forums and would like to know which ones are the best performing, as judged by the real power users.
I won't be going on the web that much; more single app use and text + picture. I don't even have a YouTube acct.!
Since everyone is light years away from me I would love to hear your opinions.

Thanks

Chuck Tucker

well they have good factory roms for the stock 2.2.1 but they do not give the full effect of the captivate you can get from it. They do have the 2.3.3 roms but it does take time and patience blood sweat and tears to get to it. Although if you do get to the 2.3.3 rooted and CWM on i. I can suggest the Mossaic Teams , Fusion, and Serendipity or Their other one called Firefly.

Do alot of reading. Here and @ XDA forums. Start with Firefly then move over to CM7 when ur comfy.

It's not hard to flash any ROM from stock 2.1 (JF6). Simple, get the CWM .zip file, title it update.zip, go into stock recovery; from there you hit reinstall packages, you'll have to do it twice, and it will give you CWM. From there, make sure you have the ROM you want on your storage, and flash from there. I've been away from the Cappy since I got my SGSII, but I just went from stock to CM7 on the Cappy again that way tonight.

Problem is, nobody is on JF6 anymore.

[oldmanvoice] Back in the day, we had it easier sonny! [/oldmanvoice]

2.2 introduced a signed Recovery, which makes it more difficult to bypass.

I have been running CM7 from way back when it came out in March? and I have never had a huge problem with it, especially now that we have a Stable Release. Can't speak about any other ROMs though as I CM7 was the first and only I have installed.
