icons questions

Hi all i have a question about the phone and contacts icon on the bottom of the screen, just wondering if they can be changed to something different such as text messaging.

Get launcher pro, it replaces the moto launcher, and gives u 4 icons on the launcher bar which u can make anything. U can also turn on counter for the icons (texts,gmail,ext)

Yeah i used launcher pro on my droid but haven't gotten around to re downloading it. Im just trying to explore the droid x and so far i love what i see but i really want to change that contacts icon

Nope...you can't change those; your only option is to change launchers ie Launcher Pro, ADW Launcher, Zeam, etc.. It's also a good idea to also install the Home Switcher app so you can seamless switch from one to the other.
