ICS.....05/09/12.....well?

I am really starting to get upset. It has been all day and i have yet to see a post about how crappy it is that the day is here and nothing is going on. This thread should be full of them! This is what I am used to.

I am really proud that HTC users know better, or disappointed that there is apathy amongst the group.

I guess I will go over to the Sprint Gnex forum and start a rumor "Sprint getting 4.0.6 on Friday, what about Verizon?" just to feel better about us nerds

I've noticed that too, even in myself. Sure, the Android update process is a sad state of affairs, because most phones do not have what has become the luxury of being relatively bug free. The norm is people wanting updates to fix what's broken, so I can easily understand the frustration with silence and excessive delays on the matter. (Though some take it too far.) The Rezound really is the first phone I've ever owned that doesn't really *need* to be fixed. For the first time, I want an anticipated update for the new features it will bring, not because I need something to start working. It will be fun day when the update comes, but I can actually wait this time.

All that said, I think people are getting used to Android updates being a game of shadows, and some of us have been through this so many times that we've been able to gain a little perspective and realize it's just a phone at the end of the day. :)

Can't blame them, bloat free is a happy place to be, even if it's only disabled and shelved w/ the OTA.

You nailed it. That is the definitive reason I want the update. I still can't believe how carriers have abused Android. Blackberry only allows shortcuts to download the bloat and you can hide them. Apple doesn't permit this garbage in the first place. Windows Phone allows you to uninstall the bloat and put it back via the marketplace with a dedicated carrier section. Why can't Android be permitted the same experience? Google Play Store already has carrier sections, so it just seems obvious. Carriers could handle it this way and those of us who sway buying opinions would be much happier. I just don't see a downside to that, and yet carriers remain obtusely stubborn.

Between disabling the crapware and the 2D hardware acceleration included in the ICS framework, I'm looking forward to a very upgraded experience.

judging by this crowd, the app would be a success if the phone moaned in orgasm anytime a new OTA became available.

You mean something like this? I once loaded this on a friend's phone and called him for no good reason. Admittedly, my timing might not have been ideal when you consider we were sitting down to dinner at his parent's table so perhaps they were what you might call less than amused. But on the plus side, they stopped getting in his business about whether he was gay for a while.

There ya go! Now, we just need the app.

I saw a post in another forum that the update got push back 2 weeks. I do not know how true that is.

Ok people think logically here...

Who really thought that HTC and Verizon would actually put ICS on a phone BEFORE releasing a new phone ICS already on it?

Not me.

I'd bet money we don't see ICS update until a month or two after the DROID Incredible 4G releases.

2 Flaws there. First they Launched the Nexus already with ICS

Second, the leaks are too good to shelve it for 5 months. It is about done if not done.

I just read on another site, that someone spoke to an Verzion Rep, and was told that the Rezound was not slated to receive Ice Cream Sandwich any time soon. That there is an upgrade coming for the Rezound I wanna say May 12th or 22nd.

Here is hoping that this Rep is indeed wrong.

Most reps have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to updates.

+1
Retail reps aren't given access to where these documents are. They don't need them. One thing everyone is forgetting, the leaked documents are over a week old. VZW updates that particular sheet once a week so most likely they found an issue (probably the SMS bug) and are delaying the OTA. Sadly the OP of the leaked documents changed jobs and doesn't have access to the SU timelines anymore.

And for all of the 11:59 PM theorist... how did that work out for you?

Worked out great ... I'm still breathing. Whew! :)

So true about the unpublished changes to the schedule. Better they fix the problems first.
