ICS 4.0.4 Messaging App

I'm with you, mostly - plus I think the 3rd party options are sorta fugly/clunky.

The two things I wish the stock app did was an always-on character counter and splitting long messages. I miss the patching options from webOS.

+1 on that. But, that was a feature of using HTML+Javascript applications rather then binary applications. So patching applications can't exist for Android applications in the same way. Unless someone ports the WebOS runtime to Android.

The only thing I know of is that in the market, there is a port of the official ics messaging app. So technically its still third party but its the closest to stock you can get. I believe it offers SMS split.

O to whoever else was saying it, yea whenever I tried the option in custom roms for SMS split, I too got the crazy symbols. The only app that has properly split for me is gosms which is typically my everyday messaging app.

I was interested in this thread because I too feel a connection to stock apps, but for now I'll stick with Go SMS Pro

You guys are making me wonder if webOS would run on my S 4G.

When I first got it, I pulled it out in a meeting and a colleague exclaimed "Where'd you get the Pre 3???".

I wish. :'(
