ICS and battery life

No, the first few hours will be terrible on batteries while we all try out and look for all the changes. Will know more tomorrow when we all charge over night back to full.:D

Seems about the same or slightly better, hardly touched my phone from lunch break til after work at about 6:00pm... Includes about 40 minutes of voice calls, 15-20 texts, 25 minutes of screen time, and 3 hours of 5.5 hours on WiFi (otherwise only 3G), went from 85% battery (when I left after update finished) to 68% right now. Seems typical...

After a couple of weeks, it the battery life appears to be one-half of what it was with the previous operating system.

Have you done a factory default since you got the ICS update? Most (but not all) people who have issues after the update seem to have most of the clear up by doing so, or at least get significantly better, after the update.

After running this for 11 days, I can honestly say I have at least the same battery usage as on GB, perhaps slightly better but not significantly. I can get through an entire day of normal usage and about 20%-40% battery life left at the end of the day on a standard battery which was about the same as on Gingerbread.

EDIT: If you are considering doing a factory wipe, might want to wait a couple days since it looks like another update is starting to roll out and we don't know the exact implications of it yet... wouldn't want to factory default, set everything back up, then have to do it again.

The first week after the update my battery life was terrible - I am using an extended battery and I am not a heavy user and was recharging every other day. After the update it was down to 30% or worse 12 hours after the recharge. Starting this past weekend it iis back to normal if not even better. I read somewhere that it takes the battery time to adjust - I didn't believe it but do now!

Yes... 4.3.605.1, enables Global Modes, removes Mobile IM, updated GTalk, movie editing software added, new hboot, new kernel, new firmware, new radios... started pushing out OTA the other day, still only a few people have gotten it so far, more info here: [Update: Global Confirmed] Big Verizon HTC Rezound 4.03.605.1 OTA Update Rolling Out, Bringing Global Capabilities [Installation Instructions]

DO NOT TRY TO FLASH IT!!! Wait for the OTA, this is NOT an RUU it is an Update.Zip and cannot be flashed the same way... It has been verified to be digitally signed by HTC so it is official, but several people have bricked their phones trying to manually install it.

Will we have to defrost our bloat to get the ota if we are on .12

Unknown... but my best guess is that if you used the "Disable" option in ICS Apps section it probably will be fine, if you used TiB or Ultimate Backup to actually Freeze the apps I would say it is still probable, but it is too early to tell, the general roll-out of this update has not happened yet.

Batteries are dumb. They do not adjust.
When they are new they slightly gain in capacity and then they will slowly lose capacity as they are used/aged.

Apparent battery performance is going to be affected by what is going on on your phone. Awake vs asleep, lot of cpu usage vs little usage, poor reception vs good reception, etc. The battery does not know what is going on on the phone and is not going to adjust to what is going on.

For me, my battery life was worse immediately after the update, but I believe that was because the phone was awake more than normal. Then after some restarts it didn't stay awake as much and battery life improved. However, lately my battery is lasting about 65% as long as normal. Though I'm having terrible reception now, so that's going to be a contributing factor.
If things don't improve after the next update, I'm going to do a factory reset. If that doesn't help, I'm going to go back to stock.

It's not the battery that adjusts, its the OS. After flashing anything new, or getting a major update, android needs a few days to relearn how you use the phone, what apps you use, etc. There us a balance of leaving apps open and killing them. It takes power to open an app, but not to let it idle in free memory (as long as its not updating all the time.....facebook). Since 2.3 android learns your usage, and adjusts to make better use of battery. This is why task killer apps have gone the way of the dodo, and why monitoring free memory is silly
