ICS Duplicate Contact Merging

This is my first android phone, but I can't find a way to merge contacts. Some people are in my phone literally a dozen different times, it's nuts. From my searches on other forums, there seemed to have been a way of doing it on older versions of Android by clicking a 'merge' or 'link' option, but I don't see that anywhere on ICS. Any ideas?
 
If you have your contacts synced to your Google Account you can merge duplicate contacts from a computer web browser.

Just log into Gmail, then click "gmail" on the top left, then "contacts".

Then click "more" > "find and merge duplicates..."
 
From the People app, go to the contact you want to merge the others into, then from the menu select Edit. Once on the edit page, from the menu select Join. Repeat as many times as needed.

This is from a Nexus S, by the way. I presume the Galaxy Nexus is the same, but I'm not sure.
 
You needed to click on a contact, then the Menu button, then Edit, then the Menu button again, then Join. Then you select the duplicate contact and repeat the process for however many times that same person shows up.
