ICS is ugly. There I said it.

Here's an eye-opener: BGR's report on the new Nexus Prime I'll still call it: Ice Cream Sandwich kind of sucks, actually. Well, I must say that this is the first time I've actually thought about NOT updating to 4.0 on my new Razr. I thought it was just my wife's Tab 10.1 that was such a mess, now I realize that it's Honeycomb, and they've retained the worst of that in Ice Cream. Yuck to the highest degree. It's NOT intuitive at all, the loss of the Menu button is tragic if not stupid. And I don't need the stupid recent apps button since the HOME KEY did that anyway! What the heck is Google doing? Feeling much better about picking the Razr now!

Anyone else? Or am I missing something? If you play with a Tab, you'll know what I mean. The software actually makes using it unenjoyable. A lot.

Well you can't please everyone...its called change. A lot of newbees don't know about the home button or any of the buttons dual functions.

We all know about change, but if no one complains, crap gets created. With the Palm debacle so fresh, you'd think someone would pay attention to how quickly great can become *poof* with only a couple missteps. Unintuitive software gets you there quickly.

Complaining isn't the best way to get things changed either.

I actually love the hell out of ICS. It looks much more refined and matured compared to the older versions of Vanilla Android. I also like that it looks very clean and fluid, it just looks right to me. I cannot wait until the Nexus Prime is released on Verizon (I know that the official name is Galaxy Nexus, but Prime sounds so much better)

Wow, cannot fathom how it seems more finished. When you can't navigate, it's a problem. I've had GB on the wife's Tab since 4th of July, and have finally given up trying to figure out how to accomplish most things. I always end up where I started. Again, I don't need a stupid button to tell me where I've been (like people who use their turn signals after the turn!), but I do need a Menu button!! C'mon. Ah well, griped enough. Just gotta get used to it. (And figure out how to keep it from coming to my Razr.)

When you guys use ICS you won't think its ugly. Usability and speed is a lot better  especially on my 1.5 year old SGS

I don't, It looks super slick+ I like BLUE in my roms. I seriously do. It makes it look like the to me

OP here. Alright I'm using an AOSP ICS rom now. Here's my revised opinion: this is a huge step up over gb in terms of usability, feel, fluidity, function, transitions and yes, graphics.

The Google Apps and Widgets feel complete, which us something I've never been able to say before.

With that said, the stock home screen, stock wallpapers and icons are not good enough. They are not as sophisticated as the rest of the OS. This is unfortunate as it gives a poor first impression of a very mature and complete OS.

ICS is not ugly under it all, she just has a bad haircut, coke bottle glasses and braces.

Craig, how do you accomplish what you need to without a Menu button? On my wife's Tab, using GB is like stone age for intuitiveness to the point where I've kind of given up on it. I can never find what I'm looking for, and at this point, am ready to just block my Razr from updating to ICS. Am I missing something?

You might be happier with an iPhone.

My menu button works great. I'm using an aosp build with menu button support.

That is really interesting, I have heard nothing about anyone disliking ICS. Have you tried cusomization methods to make it more pleasing to you?

I wouldn't say ugly, maybe just a bit bland on the visuals.
In terms of functionality and everything else, I love it.

ICS - U-G-L-Y, you aint got no alabi, you UGLY!

I don't get why everyone is raving about Android's new look. I don't like the blue icons. The disproportionate app drawer icon is especially ugly. The whole thing just looks unfinished. I was really hoping for a graphics upgrade, but this is the wrong direction. GB was much better asthetically imho.

I got a nexus because I saw potential for android after gb and after matias duarte got on board, and wanted to be one of the first to try out ics.

Now, I wish I had bought an evo3d. ill prob stay on MIUI and use my webos theme for now.

just disapointing. I miss webos.

But I do have an alibi though

Bland is a good way to describe ICS, especially the home screen (the rest isn't too bad). It doesn't help that it looks too similar to Touch Wiz. But, what really kills it for me are the softkey buttons (absolutely hate em). IMHO, HTC Sense is the best looking, most intuitive and most refined UI.
