ICS next week?

I must have a stripped down version. cuz there's no widgets. amongst other problems.

all the instructions were posted and followed to a T on the xda sight. including upgrades to a couple of liquid roms that i really liked. but one was missing some features while the other was missing different features.

iof anyone has other links for instructions and downloads. i can try that. cuz right now my phone is not very friendly user.

That's why I was talking about a factory reset earlier. A lot of times upgrading from one OS to another (I.E. GB to ICS) will be ok. It's not much different than upgrading from windows 7 to windows 8...except the ICS upgrade actually, you know, works. :D Factory reset will wipe your system and user data and give you a clean start. That's what I did on 238 and my phone has never run better. A lot of times the "I'm going to another build because..." posts are more to do with corrupt system data than the version they're on.

Samuri, first I want to start by sincerely apologizing for overreacting. As I've read through the zillions of messages you've had to respond to, it's a wonder you have any patience left! I'd use long work days as an excuse except it sounds like you've got me beat there, too. ;)

Second, THANK YOU for HoB. I followed the instructions to the letter (re-read everything three times, ha) and installed 232 stock. What a resource, and everything worked simply and flawlessly! Whatever thanks you get on the various forums, it isn't enough.

My Bionic is a new device on ICS 232. Everything faster, more fluid. NOT ONE SINGLE DATA DROP. Battery life improved noticeably. Very, very happy.

Third, I just wanted to say that you can lecture me anytime. I probably deserve it. :p

so how's about a link to where you guys got your download. so i can try whatever version yall used.

Stick to 232. It will allow you to move back to 905 so you can take the OTA when it comes. 235 and above have security that disallow you from going back to 905.

well, hows about link to 905 and 232 so i can retry.

cuz my 232 SUCKS. and you all say it rocks. and i followed instructions to a T as posted on the xda sight that i used.

No widgets in the app drawer?

i don't have anything. buty a junked our phone right now. just about nothing works.

had a perfectly working 905. found the xda for ics. so i did the rsdlite for fxz 905. or whatever that program is. with the computer. then did the wipe and all that and install 232 from sd card.

just like the instructions said. with all the download links.

half my apps don't work. maps don't work properly. the phone is in worse shape then it's been the whole year i've had it.

and that link the above posted. looks over my head and i don't see where to get 232 off that.
i'm savy but not enough to use adb shell.

if i was home. i'd post the xda thread i used.

here we go. this is what i used. i did the full to liquid. tried both. not realizing the 232 was already ics.

so basically i wped twice. once for each liquid. then did a 3rd wipe and no liquid. which is where i'm at now.

if both liquids were combined into one with all the features each has. now that would be a kick butt rom. but one had missing features. and some things that didn't work. the other had extra features but also it's own glitches. so i left liquic alone.

your on the ics 232 aren't you?

isn't that a rom? LOL

and the link you posted is the exact same thing as the link i posted. only mine went furether to include insgtructions for 232. and liquids.

so i'm no better off then i am nowe. either i've got a bad link to a bad 232 or i need to just to the wipe process back to 905 a couple of times.

I'm pretty new to this, but I think I'm correct in saying that Samuri's version is not a custom ROM, but rather a stock version of that particular ICS build. No liquid (whatever that is).

Seems to me that with your level of knowledge (and no offense intended), you would be best off getting yourself back to .905 and waiting for the OTA ICS. why aggravate yourself over a crippled phone?

No, I'm not on 232. I'm much further than that and stuck waiting for a new build. Roms are not the same as updates. Roms are installed typically with safestrap and sometimes with bootstrap if you're brave. I've never installed one on the bionic and at this point given that ota ics is likely delayed til q4 I never will since I'm on a build that doesn't allow me to downgrade.

well, since the bionic has had all it's problems. articles are floating around that it's now a forgotten child.

and since it never saw honeycom. and later release phones have already gotten ics. and jellybean is starting to roll out. i'm thinking the bionic is a dead horse. and probably won't go any farther.

To be fair, NO phone saw Honeycomb. It was strictly a tablet OS. However, yes, the Bionic is the only dual core moto phone to not get an official ICS build at this point. The info I hear is that it's delayed not cancelled. Either way it's irrelevant for me. I have 238 on my phone which means no going back. I'll be using that for the next couple months unless a new build comes out. After which I'm replacing this thing with one of the new Nexus phones.

Samuri,

I am done waiting, I am rooted with forever root on 905 with some apps frozen, do I need to uproot and unfreeze apps before go to 232?

Thanks

Yes you do. Alternatively you can download my House of Bionic script, the components installer, and the 232 update support and just use the INSTALL 232 option and it'll deal with all that for you. No data or app loss in the process.
