ICS NFC tag formatting bug?

I recently bought this RFID, I chose sparkfun because I have bought components from them in the past and never had a problem. I was hoping to play around with the GN NFC capabilities but when I received the tags today they would not be recognized by NFC task launcher (always says "Tag is unsupported"). After doing some digging I found this, which basically says ICS has a bug that does not allow the formatting of non-pre-formatted tags. Obviously being new to this I was aware but am hoping you guys have some workarounds or suggestions of other ways to format these.

I think that has been fixed in 4.0.3, so it may be as simple as flashing a new rom. There is a thread about this in the Rooting/Roms/Hacks forum.

this is a known issue that was fixed in 4.0.3

either wait for the OTA or flash a rom and you will be good to go

I couldnt find any menton of this in the forum (maybe it was buried too deep), but I am definitely going to flash 4.0.3 now.
