ICS on Flyer

Looks like it's official that it's not gonna happen. :'(

On the HTC Android 4.0 FAQ At the bottom under the section "What devices will not get Android 4.0?" it includes the sentence:

"HTC tablets, including the HTC Flyer, HTC EVO View 4G, and HTC Jetstream, will remain on their current Android version (Honeycomb)."

So that's it then. Will have to unlock the tablet in the future to get ICS on it. Am currently happy with HC (other than missing the hardware buttons) so will stick with that for now.

I pulled out my Flyer last weekend and dusted it off, rooted it with HTCdev and realized that you only had SU with S On. So, I downgraded to Gingerbread (yes it is possible to go back), then rooted with S Off, upgraded to Honeycomb with a Honeycomb kernal, and then installed ICS Lisbon by Choasz-X. ICS has added new life to the Flyer and even though the ROM still lacks pen support at this time, it is certainly stable enough for a daily driver.

We will have pen usage as the ROM is developed, but I thought it best to note that it was not working at this time.

New to these parts but a long time reader of android Central news and long time xda member. Amazing to see Chaoses rom has made it to other forums.

I'm a former flyer owner and its a big reason I hate htc. I gave up and sold it and bought a nexus 7. The flyer is one reason I hate them, my vivid is the other

There's a JB port that I've been using as a daily for weeks WITH working pen... Only things not working are front facing camera, and BT... Everything else works great.

Worth checking out. I plan on buying a Nexus 7 once I can afford to, but I've had my Flyer from day 1, and even after I get a Nexus 7, I won't let it go...

I chose the red pill... Now I'm in the mAtrix and I know Kung Fu... in HD!

Its good to see some familiar faces around here! Kids doing great, finally starting to cry less and acknowledge me more, he's about a month old now :-)

Yeah my normal "Cor-master" name was taken already. Honestly I think I registered in 2010 back when I got the captivate, most likely why, but I have no idea what the password or email I registered it with is.

What root method did you use? I have only been able to find a temporary root on xda.
