Hey Folks,

Loving the look of ICS but it has been a MESS for me as far as the phone functioning. I will preface my problems with the fact that I just received a replacement Rezound right when the ICS update dropped and updated that unit.

Below are my issues. I am mainly looking for help with the GPS one as I am going to be on the road all weekend. I talked with Verizon tech support and they were no help with the exception of sending me out yet another replacement unit.

GPS issue.

I turn on the unit's GPS, start Navigator, enter location and within 1-2 minutes the phone will reboot. It does this every time and renders the navigation pretty much useless. I have done a factory reset and battery pull. The problem is still there.

3G/4G issues.

Before the ICS update I got a solid 3G signal at my house and okay 4G in certain parts of my house. Now I get crappy 3G and 4G. On the road it is hit or miss as far as 4G.

Battery Issues.

Before ICS I was getting a solid 7-8 hours of moderate use if on 3G. Now I am getting 3-4 hours tops. If I run 4G I am getting around 2 hours. I have cycled through the batter 3 times since the update. No change.

On another note, I am pretty much done with the Rezound. This is my 4th unit. The first 3 were plagued with the dreaded bootloader loop issue. I pretty much BEGGED Verizon to send me a different replacement this time around and they said it was impossible. Any tips for changing their minds?

Navigator/Maps - Every Rezound with Offical ICS (RUU or OTA) has this problem since the update of Google Maps (not ICS) go to Settings->Apps->Maps and Uninstall Updates and you should be good until Google can fix it.

The other two issues seem common, did you manually do a factory reset after getting the update? This helps in most instances, although in early to mid September the official Global Mode OTA should drop and early RUU use indicates these problems are resolved (or at least improved).

Thanks for the info. I will try the google maps fix. Hopefully that works.

And yes I did a factory reset after the install. I guess I will wait it out for the next update.

Sorry if these questions were posted before folks. I am running around like a mad man today and didn't think to search before posting.

Have a great weekend everyone.

If your battery and 4G issues are real bad, you might want to go ahead and try the 4.3.605.2 RUU available from Android Police, it is super easy to install but will wipe your data in the process.

[Exclusive Download] Full RUU Build 4.03.605.2 For The HTC Rezound

Just follow their instructions, it is pretty idiot proof... I would recommend flashing it twice though, once you go through there instructions let the phone boot up and go to the setup but don't do the setup process, then power down and repeat the VOL DN+Power flashing again, then once it boot ups go through everything in setup and you should be good to go.

This. Also you don't even have to completely reboot. After you flash it the first time it will prompt to reboot. Tell it yes and then just hold volume down and it will reboot directly into boot loader again

So, just for my sanity.... Do you guys have to actually volume down into the bootloader the second time? When I ran the .10 leak, it rebooted itself back into the bootloader and continued with the update. Just curious, cause I've been telling dudes it will reboot back into the bootloader itself.

You should in stall the RUU, then allow the phone to boot up completely into setup, then power down and VOL DN+Power AGAIN, and allow the RUU to flash a second time.

Do you absolutely have to do this, probably not, but if you have flashed a bunch of stuff you just kinda learn to do it and take it as gospel.

Re: ICS update a mess? GPS Issues, 3G/4G issues and battery issue

I'm having the exact same issues but no luck with anything! I called Asurion and they said since its a signal issue that it was Verizon's problem and transferred me to a Verizon rep who told me to do all of the following
1) Factory Reset (we did this a total of 5 times)
2) Boot into Safe mode
3) Dialed *227*** (I think thats it) and went into the dev settings

Nothing worked so he sent out a Certified Like New Replacement on Thursday. Just got that this afternoon and literally the minute I booted the replacement, it lost Data connection and within an hour it rebooted for no reason (no Google Maps or anything). It ran the update about 15 min after it booted and that took over an hour on 4G because it kept cycling on and off. Finally after the update, same problems! I'm going to Verizon tomorrow and I'm gonna sit down with a Sales Rep and just explain whats going on and hopefully they can help. I've had bad luck with every HTC I have owned, I went through 4 Thunderbolts and now 2 Rezounds, this is totally unacceptable and if the rep tries to replace my phone I am going to insist upon an S3 even if it's a refurb.

Works like a charm! Thanks for the heads-up.

Note that this has changed now... the newest version of Maps (6.11.1) works just fine and the reboot issue is resolved, feel free to install the latest version.

It is still a good idea to do a Factory Reset when such a major change to the OS occurs, and do it via hboot and not just from the phone's Setting-Security menu!
