ICS update unroot

I recently got the ICS update and it seem that my phone had been unrooted. To root my phone again is it the same process as it was for Gingerbread?

You maintained all your data when you got the update? Or you had to wipe back to stock without root?

All my data was there, but some of my apps the required root access did not work.
