If a battery pack gets "puffy", does that mean its about to expode? Is there a danger?

Once you notice a battery is swollen , you should stop using the device. Turn the power off, and do not charge the device. Once the battery has reached such a point of failure that the battery is swollen, you must assume that all safety mechanisms in the battery are not working. Charging a swollen battery is literally asking for it to turn into an exploding ball of noxious flammable gas.

Yes there is a danger. Statistically the danger might be low, but it is increased. And we've heard enough about exploding batteries lately!

Yes, a swollen battery is dangerous and should be replaced IMMEDIATELY. My iPhone 5C battery swelled up and I replaced it myself... its not hard or expensive.

As well as what those guys say, a swollen battery can damage the phone as it expands and presses on stuff.
