If I restart my phone, will that start installing the pending update?

There is a "downloaded and verified" software update on my phone that says Restart and Install. However, I do not want this update. If my phone restarts (accident, runs out of battery) will this start installing the update? If so, how can I stop it? I have an unrooted Nexus 5, and I do not want to root it.

I did the install earlier today and as I recall I woke up my phone and it had a message saying the 6.0.1 update was ready and at the bottom of the message it said something like download and restart. I clicked on the "Download and install" and it downloaded a 98Mb file. Then it restarted and installed the update. I didn't look since I saw no reason not to install the update whether the message could be trashed or not.

If you ignore the message and put reset your phone, it won't install the update because it hasn't been downloaded. I don't know if it would start the download process or not.
