Soo, I accidentally connected my phone to neighbor tv, then I instantly turned off the wireless display, does my phone disconnected from his TV?

And if I turned on the wireless display again, does his TV will automatically reconnect to my phone?

If he turn his TV off, does my phone disconnect from his TV? And once he's turning his TV back, does it still connected to my phone?

Please someone answer this, I'm scared right now

What will happen if I turn off the wireless display on my mi phone while it's still connected to Samsung tv? Will it disconnects automatically?

And once it's disconnected because it turned off, will my phone reconnect to the tv if I turn the wireless display back on, or you need to reconnect manually?

Is there some tips for me on "how to tell if my phone still wireless display to neighbor TVvs"? Like battery drain, high data usage or something?

I just want to know is my phone is actually being wireless display into my neighbor tv "secretly" Without me knowing or my phone is actually safe

As I seen on YouTube, wireless display does not give the phone user any sign like notifs or some sort if their phone is still being wireless display onto someones tv

Here is what I got when I tried to connect to their tvs and then disconnect then repeat, just to make sure I did disconnect "correctly"

(sometimes it shows a sign/notifs (the screen with half WiFi logo) on my notification bar ,but it's kind of buggy, it sometimes appear and sometimes don't appear at all. but I still can't connect to it ,once it still at "connecting" state few seconds later it says "has stopped screen mirroring" (This line only appears if the notifs did appeared) And then the notifs disappeared. leaving me (like in all my replies) where i stucks at connecting. Even if it says "has stopped screen sharing" It do not disconnects me, I still have to disconnects it manually)

If you were actually connected to another TV for wireless display, there would be some sort of notification on your phone that you were sharing your display. If you don't see that, then you're fine.

Through all of this thread, you never mentioned which phone you have. If you have a Xiaomi, then you'd see a notification for Wireless Display as seen in this article: https://c.mi.com/thread-879168-1-0.html

I'll say again: you're fine. Do not worry.

A Setting named Wireless Display is probably unique to Xiaomi / MIUI so is undoubtedly confusing for non users (and me - I never look at it)

Have you tried turning off the cast while our phone still connected to the tv? What will happen if it's turned off when you still casting?

If you do, does your phone give prompt to disconnect first when you press that button (to turn it off)? Or it just turned without any prompt/warning?

I don't know. Those Samsung TV's in grey are historic from several identical hotel rooms (different wifi codes).

I'm at home and won't be near a Samsung tv for a while

As B. Diddy said, you would know your device is currently streaming to another display.

I may experiment later with a Chromecast to my old Plasma TV or my new pc using hotspot and my other xiaomi, as I don't have wifi at home

but a) why leave the Wireless Display on? Are you trying to cast to another screen.

b) run the Security App and watch all the colourful graphics in each section.

You are not displaying your information to your neighbours TV, Wireless Display on or off.

I understand your initial worry, and MIUI (while I like it) has overlapping options in places.

What you choose to believe is up to you.

I would recommend you join the (improved) Xiaomi user forums as recommended by another user in this thread :

The community forum app was completely overhauled back in Feb this year. It's not perfect but slowly getting better. Hope to see you there.

Okay

What will happen if I turn off the wireless display while my phone is still screen mirroring to my neighbor tv?

I'm asking, what will my neighbor see if I turn it off while my screen still screen mirroring, will they just got black screen or something?

My question that I had asked earlier on is how did you connect to your neighbors TV ? He/She allowed you ?

First of all, it sounds like the phone never successfully connected to your neighbor's TV, so this discussion is all pretty much irrelevant. But if you had actually connected and were screen mirroring (which would mean connecting to your neighbor's wi-fi network, having your neighbor actually cooperate and set the TV to accept the screen mirroring request, etc.), then turning off wireless display on your phone would simply dump the TV back either to a black screen or its normal TV input.

Get a grip man!! I'm just kidding ;) Everyone's explained to you in detail why it's not possible that your neighbor can spy on your phone... you can trust them they're professionals  I know it's a scary world out there tech wise, but you're completely safe in this situation, so relax and hang out and join in on some of the other conversations we have... believe it or not this is a pretty cool place to hang out :D

I do not share a same WiFi with my neighbor my WiFi and his WiFi were different.

This is what happens when I try to connect (i tried to connect repeatedly just to make sure what I'm seeing is correct)

↓ This what happend when I connect to Samsung 4 series ↓

Samsung tv did appear ONLY if I turned ON the Wireless display, if I turned it off then the Samsung tv disappear from the list

And the notification never appeared

↓ This is the pattern ↓

Wireless display -> on -> I tap the tv that were on the device list -> I stuck on "connecting" (There is no prompt appeared when I clicked that tv, I don't know why (this is recording/cast prompt it usually contains a warning signs ,on the bottom right it has cancel / start button. But that prompt did not appear) and also there is no notification appear like what B. diddy said) -> I tap the tv on the list again (prompt appeared and it only contains the tv name and a "disconnect button" At the bottom right) (why do I need to disconnect? It's because I'm not sure what just happened, and it stuck at "connecting" So I just do it to make sure) -> i clicked "disconnect" (but I'm not sure if it's truly disconnected because it never become "connected" in the first place because it stuck on "connecting")

If I leave it on the connecting state

I think the list is just some sort of refreshed automatically and the "connecting" State goes away , (it just goes back to the first step where I need to select which tv I want to connect to)

But after that. If I tried to connect to that tv again, it just went bugged (?). When I tap the tv on the list, it just blinking. I tried to spam it, nothing happens, no prompt, no notification, just nothing happends.

The only way to fix the "bug" Things (I don't know what it's called) I had to restart my phone, and then everything went normal again

What if I turned off my WiFi? , as I said, there is 2 tvs on the wireless display list. The first tv affected by the wireless on/off button and the second tv is does not affected by the wireless display on/off button, it just stays on the list.

I do not know how did my phone catch that tv signal. I suspect for this one tv , the owner is connecting to my WiFi. But if I turn off my WiFi (my phone WiFi, not the router). Will my phone disconnect from his tv if I turned my WiFi off while it still connected to the tv?

And What will he see on his tv when that happens?,will if become black screen or something?

And if I turn on WiFi on my phone back. Will my phone attempt to reconnect to his tv without me knowing does phone do that?

Once again, you're totally safe. Remember that devices will always search for nearby devices or networks, depending on what you're using (e.g., nearby wi-fi networks, or nearby Bluetooth devices, or in your case, nearby smart TVs for wireless display). Just because you see the devices in the list doesn't mean there's an intimate connection between those devices and your phone. There has to be a coordinated connection between the two.

You don't have to worry. That's my final post on the matter.
