If iMessages is so great why can't Android Messages just copy its functionality?

I know people that are "Blue Bubble Snobs", and have heard of many others.

It sounds stupid, but it is a thing ya know.

I don’t understand how for some people iMessage is the be all and end all when it comes to switching phones ._.

I’ve used both iMessage and Android Messages...they’re both different, but honestly speaking I’d say they’re both as good as each other. Blue bubble snobs are usually small minded as well...I mean seriously? Judging someone by the colour of their text bubble XD?

End-to-end encryption is preferable to client-server in this instance. Otherwise, companies would have access to unencrypted communications and/or governments could monitor the messages.

It’s interesting that you’ve mentioned this now. I just read an article in a Swiss newspaper about RCS. Because unlike messengers like iMessages, WhatsApp etc, RCS is a communication standard. Because of that, at least here in Switzerland, it’s not allowed to be encrypted. For communications standards, the Swiss government has strict rules in terms of government surveillance. Messages have to be retained for 6 months by the providers and they need to be readable (eg absolutely no end-to-end encryption allowed) should there be legal inquiries.
