If Nexus phone is sold through carriers ...

Since I'm on Verizon, have been using Google wallet for years without the ability to pay for purchases (currently on note 3) using nfc payments, I figured it still was not possible.

Other phones have had the ability for a long while now, including the S4. For some reason, the Note 3 was left out.

That's good to hear. Thanks. Ditch this Damn Sammy for my beloved Nexus seems to be the answer. Dont let me down Verizon.

Ultravisitor, Thanks for the explanation. I have found so much useful information here, but sometimes it does get a little confusing. I'm already committed to an AT&T plan, most likely, so Verizon isn't likely to be the carrier for me anyway. I was just curious.

Extremely misinformed? Little much isn't it? Since I'm on Verizon, have been using Google wallet for years without the ability to pay for purchases (currently on note 3) using nfc payments, I figured it still was not possible. If misinformed, inform me of what I'm missing without the attitude. I would love to be able to use it. I did not give attitude in my first comment "... I didn't think so." not... I "don't" think so *****.

You're extremely sensitive to the subject so I feel it's best to not tell you as you'll take my words far more harsh than their initial intention. I have the same internet you do, you can figure it out. Good luck!!

Most of us who are Verizon customers would love a Nexus without the usual VZW limitations (blocking features and updates). The big question though is what Verizon will charge for full retail, since I don't want to give up unlimited data, and whether they will allow play store version, or if there will even be a play store compatible version.

At this point its all speculation, but given that it is Verizon, no one is expecting good news :D

To make sure I'm clear. Purchasing at the Play Store will get me a carrier unlocked, full-priced phone. If I get one from a carrier, it's carrier locked and can be either subsidized or full-priced phone (at a 'fuller' price that Play Store)?

Purchasing through the Play Store, I'd have to send my phone in for repair?

Any advantage with reception (data or voice) when getting a carrier locked Nexus 6? In other words, with the Nexus 5 was there ever a problem with a phone that was carrier unlocked to Sprint, but using Sprint?

Phones purchased form carriers allow wifi calling (e.g. on TMobile). If you get it from the Play Store, that won't work.

The Nexus 5 doesn't have WiFi calling on t-mobile, and I highly doubt the 6 will either. The reason is that t-mobile's WiFi calling solution is baked into the firmware. I doubt Google will allow t-mobile access to the 6's firmware because that would be giving t-mobile more control over updates--which is the antithesis of what Google is trying to do with the nexus line.

I love buying from the Play store as I get the phone at a pretty decent price. All the tasty updates. Plain Android so I can customize it just the way I want it. And the freedom to put it on almost any carrier I want. It is amazing the deals I get from carriers if I threaten to leave, because they know I can and will since I have the device to do so... I hate playing the game, but will play all day long to get the best deal because the carriers will not be looking out for my best interests....
