If not Samsung, what brand next?

Wholeheartedly Agree!! Everytime I buy a new phone, I have to buy larger purse. It's becoming an expensive habit. A lot of people have an electronics graveyard, I have a purse graveyard.

You ladies crack me up :D I love having the female perspectives on these things we call phones :p Please don't go anywhere, this place wouldn't be the same without you guys ;)

I carry 2 large phones with me everywhere so my bag has to be big enough for them and my wallet. But I love handbags so I don't mind having to get another one to fit.

I would be very tempted to get the absolute top end Xiaomi device of the time when my Note 20U is getting old :-)

I see many Note 20U users saying they are unhappy with Samsung's decisions, not just with the S21, but actually the unrest has been growing. I am included in this group. Once it is time for a new device, generally I pick up a couple a year, what is next? Any ideas of what models, companies have you attention?

I'm going with either the Acme Widget line or the Brand X Line Y for my choices.

What's that mean?

Basically, everything has become standardized, close to identical. Acme was always a generic name used for large generic companies. In B-school economic classes, a generic product is a widget. IE, we're so blessed that even our worst choices are pretty good and things have become more predictable

Gotcha , thanks

I also have a pruse graveyard! My mom and I share the same affliction of purse collection!

Panning up a few replies upstream, does itunes still allow one to change playlists?

You guys are going to laugh, but my Samsung Galaxy S5 was so reliable (mostly because of the changeable battery) that I only got a new one two weeks ago. Until I get my audio woes fixed, it still appears the S5 makes the more convenient mp3 player.

I used the iphone in 2010 (whatever model that was). I liked the phone; I just hated itunes. One was always forced to do it apple's way with that phone.

It sure would be nice to have a phone that would seamlessly run Windows programs.

I generally prefer the greater freedom of Android vs. Apple. It's impossible to say what will be the newest and greatest when replacement time comes.

After upgrading every year for the past 11 years it looks like I won't have a phone to upgrade to in 2021. Who's to say I can't run this Note 20 Ultra for 5 years or more? It sucks Samsung got rid of MST Samsung Pay and the micro SD slot. I have no reason to upgrade now and sacrifice features I value

But my 2nd best phone I'd pick the Asus Rog 5 Ultimate. Looks like a really cool phone with a massive battery. Oh and it has a micro SD slot. But I don't think it's IP68.

I've had Samsung Notes since the Note 2 and I'm currently still running my Note 8 I got release weekend. I didn't update to the N20U (like I had absolutely planned to) due to the several things I don't like about it. Stylus on wrong side, HUGE, ridiculous camera bump when they should have just made the phone thicker to accommodate a bigger battery which is my other issue. I was considering going to whatever Note came out this year but it really doesn't look like that's happening now.

So, I've been researching phones for a while now and I'll have to do without my beloved on-board stylus that I use quite frequently but I've pretty much decided on the Oneplus 9 Pro. Should be a beast of a phone with most specs at or above the N20U. Especially the variable refresh rate that goes down to 1hz to save battery. Another thing I like about the Oneplus is the price would be considerably less than a new Note would be.

Going thru this thread, i am really not sure what I would buy next. It will likely be 2022-23 if I buy a new phone. LG is unknown as far as the future. Note 30 is either cancelled or postponed or whatever. Who knows? Looking at One Plus 10 or 11 possibly Pixel 2023.

I currently have the V60 and V40 as backup. They should last a while but I'll have to keep an eye on other brands.

When the two year point get closer I will probably go to apple unless the new blackberry is a winner.

With the rumor around that Samsung is going to introduce a tri-fold phone along with the Z fold 3 and Z flip 2, I think that should put to the idea to rest the idea that the Note 21 may not happen due to "semiconductor shortage" when they may be looking at adding a new phone to the mix. LOL

The only aspect of the N20 Ultra for me was the soc in it which is why I imported the Snapdragon version into the UK.

Apart from that the phone has been / is stellar.

In the s21 line up it would have to be the Ultra if I bought one for various reasons.

I've not seen any brands / models catch my eye.

Hungrily awaiting for the N21 Ultra Snapdragon version.
Agreed totally moot this yyrs decision. I love the N20U as it's a beast of a device. I'm gonna wait for the N21U.

For me I have few phones from different manufacturers, iPhone, pixels, one plus so if it comes down to taking a break from Samsung I'll hold my Note and continue with others .

This past year, I wash in my mind excited for the release of the S20U and might have preordered if I found a good deal. Fortunately they didn’t because the phone, to me, a fail with the camera issue. So my choice was between the N20U and iPhone 12Pro. The N20U did not disappoint, still eh on the camera bump but loved the color and the improvement to the camera. AT&T giving a $1000 credit on my N8 made it a no brainer and glad I jumped.

Who knows what will be the best phone in a year... the iPhone 13Pro or S22U or a possible N21U... or two years.

Still loving my N20U and if N21U comes out I can pass... I can also wait 12 later and if no N22U then get one before they are gone to last me 2-3 years. Maybe the iPhone 14Pro will be amazing.

In the meantime... I use to use an iPhone 6s for running and when I go out in my mountain bike because I prefer to carry the smaller device when I work out... but it died when I got caught in rain while running lol. So I asked my boss if I can take a spare phone out of circulation for my new running phone and pulled out an iPhone XR to play with.

So this weekend I’ve been setting it up almost identical app for app with my N20U. There is just something about these iPhones... nice to hold, they have this patented smoothness swiping around it... the volume rockers on the LEFT SIDE!!... the dedicated mute button... the polish and look of some things like the notification drop down... I think I’ll try to swap sims and play each phone for a week or two at a time just for the change up and give me an better appreciation of the plus and minus’ of each phone. :p

Yeah I own iphones and are great phone phones , lack in customization department but solid phones if you never going mess with in that regards.

I always say I'm fortunate to have two phones daily.. One being an iPhone... They work flawlessly for me... Never disappoint... Love my Android too.. You know as much of the pluses with customization on Android.. Once I set it up it usually stays that way for a long time lol ... Awesome comparing them side by side multi tasking... I don't know if I could ever go back to one phone.. Maybe when I retire someday and have to pay the extra line lmao
