Yes I don't understand why people don't get this. Never ever ever EXCEPT A OTA IF ROOTED. rooted+ota=brick

Heh...I had no idea. Never read it, never knew it...I didn't accept the OTA update because I was afraid to loose root. I'm sure a lot of folks just never knew. If this isn't in the sticky, then it should be (at least in the FAQs.)

As with all things root/hack related, you should do your homework first.

I have not seen any option for ota. Im running bamf 3.0 4 does this rom block them?

You won't automatically get the ota, and you should not check for software updates or try to force the ota. If you want the official update, you need to unroot completely first. But what's included in the ota is or will soon be included in custom roms / flashable radios.

I'm still new to rooting and "zero neck" has even helped and answered questions for me but I see this A LOT I would think people will at least check out the forums before updating

just do the auto root. thats what i did.

What is the procedure to get the ota with root? Has one been released?

You would just have to update your Rom. The developers will bake in all the goodies from the OTA in their updates and most often you will get them way before the OTA goes out.

Not true, twice my phone has begun "automatically" downloadeding the OTA, twice I have turned my phone off in mid download to prevent.

actually It is true, if you read the question that was asked, and which I quoted, running bamf sense 3.0 (or any bamf ROM really) you will not get the ota. If somehow you're using bamf 3.o and you had it automatically download, that's a fluke.

so it is not a good idea to root (autoroot) if your tb is updated right?

is it possible to do a factory reset and then root (autoroot)?

which autoroot did u use? cuz i use the one for mac. it worked great for mine but that was before the latest ota update.

I used the Windows autoroot script after my phone had been updated with the lastest OTA and it went without a hitch.
