If Samsung didn't offer Pre-Order Bonuses, Trade-in Credit, Vouchers, etc. Would you still buy it?

Basically, if they're like Apple. LOL

I get it, Samsung has spoiled us. A few months ago, I basically got the Watch Ultra pretty much for free just for pre-ordering the Flip6. They didn't stop there they also included the Galaxy Buds3 , 1 year Care+ and of course $100 off voucher for signing up for the Unpacked.

What happened to Samsung? It seems like they down graded the Ultra, increased the priced and offered nothing this year, I read even their trade-in credits are mediocre.

As much as I love android/Samsung, I don't think I can drop $2k when the iPhone has a better resale value. I can buy my Oppo, Xiaomi, etc. when I'm in Manila.

I learned to wait for my carrier a YEAR after to save on iPhones. I got my 15PM last year around August a month before the 16 was announced.

I don't think the Ultra was downgraded per se. There's that spen crap, but I still think downgrade is a strong word.

I thought $900 trade-in plus all the other stuff (free storage bump, accessories) was pretty good. If there wasn't that, I couldn't afford to spend $1300 a year for a phone no matter how much I like them. $500 max is doable for now.

Without upgrade trade in, I probably would not bother. If I really, really wanted the new phone, and Samsung did not have the trade in program, I might look at what I could sell my current phone for through Swappa or something like that.

But that's a bit of a hassle, and I'm lazy, so I would have to really want the new phone. This year I don't think I would have done that.

In the UK samsung are offering £540 for the S24 Ultra. With a £100 discount code, free buds 3, and going through a 'perks at work' scheme i could possibly get the S25U for around £375 plus my phone.
There's no way I would even contemplate buying the new devices without some kind of discount and trade in. At £540 they ain't pushing the boat out that's for sure!

Carrier deals sure are appealing, as long as you don't mind being locked in for 3 years, or the attendant carrier bloat. At least that's my observation with AT&T.

I would not upgrade as often if Samsung reduced trade-in values, accessory deals, and Rakuten did not offer another 14% discount.

I purchase unlocked phones outright and use a GSM 5G MVNO that costs $15/month (prepaid yearly) for 10 GB of data, unlimited text, and talk.

I know I would maybe every 2 years instead of yearly. I actually didn't use to trade in my phones at all but then the trade-in programs became too good to turn down. Apple phones have better resale values because people tend to use them longer. I mean who are we kidding you're virtually buying the same phone yearly especially when it comes to software. If I'm being honest though iPhones don't hold value the way they did years ago. There's too many carriers proving trade in incentives or monthly discounts for adding lines. I choose Samsung because I like them. Cheaper pricing due to deals just makes it better

Carrier bloatware is still going on?

Up here, one of my carriers, Telus only loads their repair/service app which is easily disabled.

Even in the past, it wasn't so bad so I have no problems being "locked in" especially being in a business/corporate plans. Take last year, in November I upgraded to the Pixel 9 Pro XL paying only $25 a month for it and $45 100GB/Unlimited Canada/US plan. The cherry on top was I also got $360 worth of in-store credit that I used to buy another Samsung Galaxy Buds3 and various accessories.

The only phone I bought outright is from Samsung. My Flip6. LOL

That device is quite old. I'd consider him lucky to get that much in trade.

I know but compared to last year's trade-in for the S24's or Foldables, I read some got even better deals on Fold 2's and Samsung was giving $900 for Fold 4. I can't remember the list.

I agree it's great deal especially the condition it's in LOL but as I said we just got spoiled.
