IF you considered 6 edge+, why did you decide on the Note 5?

Because I found the design awkward for my taste, and heard the battery wasn't as good, but ultimately I was just biased from owning a note device in the past.

Well the Note 5 and S6E+ are the same phone, just one has the edge and one has an spen.

Just that the edge for me is on the wrong side, and the S-Pen makes all the difference to me, like I said, a preference thing.

Ok, well....first, I will say that the Edge+ really looks nice. IMO, it looks better than the N5. As we know Samsung is selling the Edge+ as "eye-candy" the functionality features are drastically poor for an excellent curved design. Turning the phone upside down to see notification colors is a weak feature (imo). The phone should be in the up position not facing down.....(weird and useless). Next, Samsung did not take advantage and do creative thinking to provide features for side swipes especially both sides of the curved display....wow! I was disappointed. I thought surely they would add much more features on the Edge+ than they did on the Edge. It makes since right? Well they didn't they said we will sell based on looks of the phone and people will buy. I thought they would have really had an ultimate device if it was a Note Edge+. So the Note 5 doesn't look as good as the Edge+, but it does look nice. I don't even need to mention much about the N5 because we already know it's just full of rich features. As a result, I don't buy based on looks alone. It must have excellent easy-to-use features which is the N5 at this point.

Are you sure the wife had given you the okay to sell the iPhone and Apple Watch? :D

Once she gave it to me and said "sell it, I'm tired of apple" I was pretty sure. Then once I told her it is going to be sold on swappa and fund my next phone and she said "whatever" then the apple devices fate was sealed. :-$

She also wants my gear S but I'll have to be cold and dead to give her that. I told her she can have it once I get my Gear S2 in the next month

I actually considered both but going from a Note 4 to a Note 5 i did not notice too much of a difference and i was actually sick and tired of my Note 4 battery life after the update.

also mad at samsung not giving the Note 4 the new touchwhiz interface

went with the Edge Plus

same phone with better functionality that is what helped me choose the note5

I didn't look at the Edge at all. I simply don't like the 'Edge' look. And I wouldnt use the notifications that it offers. So, Note 5 it is...

I could really use the "silent type" color notifications. If only the edge screen operated independent of the lock screen and you didn't have to turn the phone upside down.

Didn't like the edge display. Having a partially wrapped app experience hurt my eyes, also preferred the rounded back for grip on the note.

How is the edge on the wrong side? It's a dual edge screen and you can put the tab to activate it anywhere on either edge?

I am looking at both, I had the Note 2 and 3, skipped the Note 4 since I just never used the Stylus enough, oh wait the new Samsung Pencil but the S6 Edge6 overcomes some of the screen size issues I had so I am looking at both. But in the end I may go Nexus or Moto simply for the software update issues.

Not what I meant. I said it's a preference thing, meaning that I like my edge to be facing forward for comfort (note 5) rather than facing backwards for novelty (6+)

Okay, after weeks of poking around, and half an hour poking on it in the store, I'm going with edge+.

-- I loved my Note 3, but never ever ever used the S Pen. EVER. And yet I loved my Note. Why? All the reasons besides the S Pen. Big, beautiful, fast, juicy Android goodness, etc etc etc.

-- I am likewise not planning to use the edge features. Kinda interesting in theory, but nothing that jumps out as must-have. But it's big, beautiful, chock full of juicy Android goodness, and I like the SHAPE of the edge.

You know what REALLY did it? Having the Note for 2 years already, getting the Note 5 felt like buying an OLD phone, not a new one. Yes, yes, faster, higher res, more useful pen. I'm a believer. I really truly am.

But I'm also 100000% shallow. Every one of my last phones has brought a change in form factor, and being entirely that shallow, that's what won the day.

I can't thank you all enough though. Even though I went the other way, I agree with you all on almost everything. LOL Your wisdom is why I've been lurking in this forum for so so many years, and I truly appreciate it.

I got the Edge 6+. Then I went back three days later and returned it for the Note 5. MUCH happier with the Note... had the 2, 3 and 4... never used the dumb pen so figured the Edge would simply make more sense... been using the S-Pen all day today.
