Learned the hard way. BT Frontier bought at Best Buy store has SP installed. BT Classics bought online at Walmart and Amazon through third-party resellers were international versions without SP installed and it can't be installed at this time. Will try to find another brick and mortar BB that has Classic in stock. Just like look of Classic better.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Samsung Help, here's email response from Samsung directing to 2 worthless Samsung forum answers that have nothing to do with SP not being installed on international versions of GEAR S3..haha. One answer was to set up SP for first time...uh..it has to be installed on watch first. Second answer was to check for a software update in gear manager for the Gear S2. Yeah, S2. I tried updating the Gear Manager app already, and the Watch software before ever mailing. Thanks Samsung haha

Anusha R: Hi, thank you for reaching out to Samsung Technical Support. How may I assist you?

Chris: Hi. Just got the international version of the gear s3. Samsung Pay is not installed on the watch. It doesn't show up in the gear manager app. I have a Google pixel xl phone and live in the United States. Is there a way to install Samsung Pay on this watch at this time?

Anusha R: Hello chris.

Anusha R: Please give me a few minutes to review the information you have shared.

Chris: FYI I have updated the gear manager app and the S3 software.

Anusha R: I understand that you are not able to install samsung pay. Am I correct?

Chris: Yes. I am hearing it may be an issue specific to the international version of the watch.

Anusha R: I have checked our resources,

Anusha R: I would like to inform you that Samsung pay does not install on international version as it supports only US version. Because Samsung pay is the US app.

Chris: There is no solution?

Anusha R: Samsung eam is working on Samsung pay to make use of it over all the world. However it will get resolved soon.

Chris: Thanks. Any timeline?

Anusha R: Sorry we do not have any estimated timr.

Anusha R: *time

Chris: OK. Thank you. Have a nice day.

Confirmed... Bought S3 Classic online from best buy, picked up in store.. It has Samsung pay bc it's a US market version from an official Samsung retailer.

I received Gear S3 as a gift that was purchased on Amazon. Loved it from the moment I paired with my Samsung phone. Samsung Pay was not an option so I called Samsung Pay tech support and after reviewing the model and some other info from the Gear it was determined that it was the "international" version and was not able to download and use Samsung Pay here in the States. It could be downloaded and used in the Korea through their banking system and the program would have to be loaded from that country as well.

Sheesh....Although Samsung Pay is just one of the many, many uses for this purchase, it is, without a doubt a major player in my decision to want this watch.

Luckily, the seller is willing to let us return the watch (they realize that they were advertising the ability to use Samsung Pay) and I will get the correct one.

Yup...that's seems to be the deal. US versions are all from Official Samsung retail channels like Best Buy, B&H and Amazon directly. No third party sellers from the likes of Walmart or Amazon have the US versions, all are international versions without SP.

Yeah, Amazon was still selling Gear S3 for $299 as out of stock when I ordered mine from Best Buy it had gone up to $349 at BB when it was back in stock. I got the Best B uyClassic for $349 then Amazon told me a couple of days later they were shipping the one I had ordered when it was $299. Haha...returned the BB watch and saved $50. At the moment the watches in stock on Amazon are all back to $349.

I bought mine from b&hphoto online. It's the US version and Samsung pay works even though I am in Canada, and officially samsung pay is not supported on the gear s3 in Canada!

But Samsung Pay is supported in Canada, just not on the watch. Why is that?

Back in November, I tweeted Samsung about this and they said our watches would be updated soon. Curious what soon means in Samsung language!!

Correct. Samsung pay is supported on Canada (only with one bank so far, CIBC) but only on certain phone models. Not on the watch. Or so they say.. But it's working perfectly for me, using my US model gear s3 frontier.

What about USA samsung Online store?? That's has to be US version with Spay, right?

That appears to be the US version of the frontier and site says samsung pay is on it; the US version model number of the Classic is SM-R770NZSAXAR

I know this statement ^ is 4 months old, but this is not the case currently, if anybody is looking for a Frontier. I just bought a US version on Amazon a couple of weeks ago. You have the option of picking either the US or international version.
