I thought I would post an issue and an answer to help those who are searching for a solution like I was.

The iHeartRadio app opens fine on my Nexus 5, but what a station starts playing I don't hear anything. I sent an email to the developer via the Play Store and they confirmed that their app does not support my current firmware (Android 4.4, KitKat). An update should be coming. Hopefully, soon and before 4.4 starts rolling out to more devices.

Here is their reply:
"Thank you for contacting iHeartRadio. I'll be happy to help with this matter today. I apologize that you are experiencing issues with getting sound on Android 4.4 Kit Kat. Currently this is Firmware that is unsupported with the iHeartRadio Application since it is so new. There should be an update available in the near future."

That app works fine for me. Stock out of the box nexus 5.

Strange. Me too, but no sound. I only logged in an didn't mess with the settings. I figured it was the new "audio tunneling" in KitKat.

I'm having Firefox Beta constantly force quit on me. Dang nabbit!

It happened to me to. The standard Firefox app works. I'm having problems with some apps crashing. Pinger Text free does not launch. It's probably that some apps don't play well with Android 4.4. It'll probably be fixed, but it'll take some time.

For me some stations will play, but of course not the ones I normally listen to. I will try to be patient.

I also have same problem very frustrating, i had trouble with my n5 so i reset, the phone wrkd great but still iheart sux on kk, i sent them a complaint anyway... Oh maybe Google doesn't like you listening to glenn beck...

For me on my N5 Iheart app loads and acts like its playing but no audio is output. Same on all stations. Tunein radio works fine. My device is stock but rooted.

iHeart works fine on my stock N5 (but unlocked/rooted). Only thing I've noticed is that it cuts off songs a few seconds too early and immediately starts up the next song. Impressed with how quickly it transistions but not at the cost of the proper ending of every song lol.

Looks like there is audio on some N5's but an equal number seem not to have it. So there is something different about those that have no audio. Since mine is rooted with no audio and Contejas is rooted and has audio I guess we can rule out root as the cause.

Anyone else have a theory?

I'm wondering if we are all talking about the same thing. There are live stations and playlists. I'm not set up for playlists or on-demand. I only do live stations and those do not all work for me. Some do, some don't. I tried the same stations on my N7 which is 4.3 Jellybean and all the stations play. So I'm chalking this to a Kit-Kat issue and waiting for them to fix it.

I only do live stations and none that I've tried have audio.

I have that app and only do live stations, works fine for me, but I haven't tried every single station, just a couple.

just curious, did you setup an iheartradio account? I don't have one. Just trying to find out why some work.

I signed in with face book.

that may be the difference. I never set up an account and don't really want iheart spam which is likely significant.

It may be the signed in people who are getting audio. Maybe the others on here can weigh in as to whether or not they are signing on when they try it.

Sorry for the late reply. You probably already know Firefox Beta was updated and works well now.

I'm signed in and I can get some music stations, but not any of the talk stations I listen to.
