iHeartRadio not working on KitKat

No joy with streaming live stations with Nexus 5. The preroll commercials work fine, as does the Pandora-like music.

Flooding them with requests may help but they will acknowledge you back by saying they already know it doesn't work on the N5 and they will eventually send out an update to fix it. They are basically saying shut up and wait.

I sent in a report, they sent me in a request to test a couple of things and report back. So they're working on it for sure.

Hello Steve,

Thank you for contacting iHeartRadio. I'll be happy to help with this matter today. I understand that you are experiencing difficulties getting sound on your device that is running Android 4.4 (Kit Kat). We are aware of the issue that you are currently experiencing and are actively working on a fix. The most recent version of iHeartRadio Application does not currently support Android 4.4 yet, be prepared for an update in the future.

To further investigate this matter for you can you please provide me with some additional details such as the following:

1. Can you please try the following live stations WLS AM and KTRH?
2. Can you please try a "Perfect For" station of your choosing?

In the meantime you can listen to iHeart though a PC at iHeartRadio | Real & Custom Radio Stations - Listen Free Online. I apologize for any inconvenience.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

How was my reply?

I am using Android 4.4 Kitkat on a Nexus 5.

I could hear WLS, and "Perfect For" tab works fine playing pre-recorded music. Still can't get KFI though.

Their tech support got back to me on the 18th and they said 4.4 is not supported but they are working on it. They wanted more data on what worked and what didn't.

I generally listen to 3 stations. Two out of 3 work with my Nexus 5. Hopefully they'll get it fixed soon.

Interesting. If you're talking about live stations I can't get audio from any on my N5

Yeah, I'm talking about live. 2 out of 3 have audio. The third one looks like it's playing, but I can't hear anything.

Response just received from iHeartRadio tech support

"We have an update we are actively testing and you should expect an update soon which should resolve the Kit Kat errors we've seen'

this has been bugging me. Listening to live stations over bluthooth won't play sounds for me. If I try to listen to live stations through the speakers, it works just fine. custom stations work fine regardless, so it is a very narrow scopped problem, but it just happens that I listen to live radio stations on my way to work and play it through my car speakers >.<

Glad they are getting an update pushed though.

Nexus 4
