im a noob but want to root

i love my htc inspire and i upgraded to the official gingerbread and now i want to root. i have a mac and would prefer to root with either the phone or the mac but i have a pc that works when it is in the mood. I really would like help!

Ace hack kit from XDA works on both I think... Just read the effin manual and follow the prompts.
