Im about to give up, do you guys have anymore suggestions?

whats your awake time? I can be at 80% after a 12hr day but that would mean i only used my phone for 30-45 min. over the 12hrs. Try recharging your phone and reboot then watch your awake times that will tell you how much battery you are getting vs how much your using it.

How do I check this?

What's the point of having a phone with all these bells and whistles if you have to turn them off in order to use it properly?

I found myself asking this same question but then I thought about it...

I use juice defender and my data gets connected once every fifteen minutes when my screen is off. Thats just fine for me. The screen is on auto which isnt really a bad thing...

So the only thing im missing out on is widgets and 4G. I just toggle wifi, gps, and bluetooth whenever I need it. Not a big deal.

So im pretty happy with my settings/what my phone can do.

You have to charge your battery 100% then restart or those number will not reset.

also if you have apps running in the backround after you hit the off button to kill screen the test will not read right as the apps will keep it awake but with screen off. Try it out best i can get is 4hrs 10min with everything off.

Ok so here is my dilemma. I got the thunderbolt as soon as it came out because my droid 2 was stolen last November and I have been on blackberry and wanted android bad. Now the first one I had met an early end on the sidewalk and was replaced with a brand new one. Now this one I have has terrible signal strength and Horrid battery ( 2-3 charges a day), also the mic on video recording just may as well not work it is so bad. What should I do. Should I get a new one under the 14 day plan? Return it and wait for a bionic? ( thunderbolt is better than the lg and Samsung imho). I get the 14 day because this one came from insurance and not Verizon so they did not count it. Should I wait for a software update and ride through? Also they made an error and did not use my upgrade hehe so I can still upgrade in July so that changes some things. I think I can still upgrade because the my Verizon online says 7/6/11 and contract end date 11/6/11 so if not I will be mad lol. Any ideas? Wait for July with my tb?

sounds like you should wait return it and wait for the DBionic. Why suffer?

full disclosure,,, i almost pulled the trigger on the TBolt and decided to wait it out for the DBionic while riding my 27 month old Storm 1.

what do you gain by holding onto the TBolt?

David

I'm holding onto mine for at least the weekend and I'll see how it goes. I got it on launch day, so 14 days is coming fast.

If I return it, I may just hold out for the DInc2. If it's got a slightly smaller screen and just 3G, I'm assuming the battery life will be better.

I love the TBolt, but I find myself obsessing over the battery and not fully enjoying just using the phone.

They will change it there just slow... Go ahead and try upgrading right now it will catch it before you even see the list of phones.

Yep. Return it. I need all of the lte I can get and one less person on the shared network works for me. When the bionic comes out in the summer hope for extension of unlimited data and enjoy.

It says upgrade now at full price but at discounted in July and also I never signed a contract I just realized. I went to the my documents folder and it doesn't have a contract and says it only keeps them for a year so who knows. Called *611 option 2 and was also told July!

well if your going to get lucky and i dont think you will just because of past with them they are slow.. But if true id keep it and then sell it later online like the other guy said you know it will be worth 300 ish unless all these bad battery post get out lol

your clock widget..

These are my phone settings and things I have tried:

-Screen is on auto Brightness
-Only thing I have syncing are facebook, gmail, and twitter. Twitter and Facebook sync every like 4 hours.
- I have ZERO widgets that I use other than HTC clock widget, power control panel, and the HTC battery app that displays the % of battery you have left.
-All my screens are completely blank except for the "home" screen and the screens with the power widgets on them.
-I installed Juice Defender and am using the "default" setting.
-I did a complete hard reset of the phone.
-I did about 3 "bump" charges.
-Friendstream, HTC facebook and Twitter are NOT syncing. I took them off.

With all that being said, I came into work with a full charge. I was at work and checked Twitter on the toilet. Thats all that I did. My battery is now down to 90 percent. Thats a ten percent drop in about an hour after I took it off the charger with VERY MODERATE use.

I hate to sound like im complaining but I dont know what else to do. I have all my settings down to "bare bone". Do any of you have ANY other suggestions before I take the phone back?

Im sorry if it sounds like im complaining but I really like this phone and dont want to take it back. Just looking for some help. Thanks guys.

Hey out of curiosity what clock widget are you using? I found that the clock widget that flips like an old time alarm clock (the one that is on the screen when you get the phone) drains quite a bit of battery. Every time you open up the screen it changes to show the right time. I removed the clock widget and it seemed to help. Just trying to help my friend...

I am using the same one. The HTC Sense one. I agree that it drains battery but I like it to much to get rid of it:)

I honestly think the HTC sense interface drastically reduces the battery life. Thats why most HTC devices dont have a great battery life, not just the Thunderbolt.

Thanks for the suggestion though man! I appreciate it!

alfieferenzo84,

I have to ask as I've been following the multiple battery related threads you've been involved in the last few days.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your job and how do you possibly need to spend 5+ hours on your TB every day? And on top of that you spent 30+ hours reading up on this by your own admission. I'd like to know how you possibly have time for this (I'm just curious that is all). And also how a tablet, a laptop, a real computer or just a power cord to plug your phone in where your job is wouldn't be more appropriate for your situation.

I mean you're only awake for 16-17 hours a day right? If you are staring at your little phone screen for a 1/3 of that time day in and day out then perhaps you have bigger issues than your phone battery? Haha, joking sorta.

That's just rude.

I'm convinced the only way to get over 5 hours of use ,wether it be light or heavy, on the TB is to turn it off and use it as a mirror. :/

Seriously though, if you need to go through more than what you already have to get the desired performance from this device, the TB may not be for you.. I'm not really sure how anyone can be content with it. I know there are people who are happy with the TB on this forum, but they seem to be a minority. :-\

LOL

I sit at home and make 50k a year. But i like to lay around half the day and play on the phone... I was thinking maybe i should buy a ipad for that and get a flip phone lol

Hey they said it would last 6.3hrs not me.

I work in a 3g/4g zone. I tried turning off 4g initially, but when I did that I got crappy 3g reception.

Today I tried something new and put it in LTE Mode. I got 4g everywhere I was previously getting 3G and better battery life. You should try it out.
